A buying of battery`s question

Hello all. Was on Evil bay and saw some battery's for sale. They are new old stock, about twelve months old apparently. Are they worth buying? They would or could need charging, so if they are flat is that the end of them or will they charge up but not as good as they where originally? Could they be charged up and be ok ?

Well, you know, it all depends on how they were maintained, stored, cared for etc. You would be nuts buying a battery with zero volts across the terminals.
