My son in law damaged an alloy rim on his Mazda 3. Rang around and got a price from Mazda for 1 rim......$788 I asked was it solid gold. I don't think he liked that question. Rang a local mag wheel outlet and he said he could supply a whole set for less than that.. Jim :):)

The wheel repair guys can do a lot of work for that much coin too. Depending on how badly damaged they are of course.

My young bloke has an imported RX7 (a Series 8 which was not released in Australia) and an RX4 which he has recently bought as a "project". He doesn't buy ANYTHING genuine from Mazda for either of these - can get anything you need cheaper from after-market suppliers.
Surprisingly - he can buy a new 13B rotary engine cheaper from New Zealand than he can from anywhere in either Australia or Japan. He's running a souped up version of the 13B in both his cars.
But from what I've heard of other brands - Mazda is not alone. One of the blokes at work recently damaged a rim on his mother's new Hyundai Veloster and had to buy a genuine replacement - cost him an arm and a leg. Apparently the shape of the Veloster rims means that they are very easily damaged.
