View Full Version : Have been out the gibb river road working
bblaze

Well have just got back from a 10 day stint out on the gibb working for a crew replacing a collapsed culvet. We had the road down to a single lane 10kmh section and I stand here and swear that of all the vehicles that passed over that 10 day period the few landrover drivers were of the few that obeyed the traffic control. The count was 3 defenders, 4 series 2 discos (2 of them v8s) 3 series 3 discos, 1 series 4 disco, 1 freelander and the tops had to be a left hand drive series 1 disco. Had one prado hit the 10kmh section at least 80kmh and only just got control back 200 meters up the rd.
Spent my time out there on 1.5 tonne excavator, 5 tonne excavator, off rd fork/loader, couple of trucks and a shovel.
Have decided that the ethics of the motor industry in Broome is such that I will no longer be part of it, it sucks (apart from helping a few landy owners where I can).
Now enjoying casual work away from the industry, feels like a load off my shoulders
cheers

Welcome to life working near traffic bblaze. Treat every car as a bullet, if it hits you you're dead. :(
Great part of the world to be working.
Cheers,

Slowed to 40KMH restriction at road works in the perth northeren suburbs , the vehicle approaching behind at a rate of knots nearly ran up my clacker even though he had passed all the slow down signs etc , then proceeded to flick lights on and off flip the bird and be a tipical cretin  . By the time we had passed the slow erea this bloke was ready to blow a blood vessel . Makes you wonder how some people think .
