Britpart td5 replacement glow plugs

Hi

Just doing the glowplug change over and after removing the originals have noticed they are shorter than the britpart replacements by about 8mm.
Has anyone got info on this, will they be sweet to use??

No matter whats wrong with, how old, or how bad you think the originals are New Britpart ones will be worse.

just curious why you would want to change glow plugs anyway ???

theyll fill the hole but probably wont work electrically..

im going to back goingbush on this one

3 out of 4 are knackered, so are the britpart plugs gonna be alright with the extra length ?

why do you think they are stuffed ??

Ive never had a glow plug fail yet, and the Td5 is my 4th Diesel, dosent really get cold enough here for them to get a workout.

If the part that goes inside the head is 8mm longer I would not be using them, if the part that the lead connects to is 8mm longer, give them a try at your own risk, but personally I'd get the right ones.

Why do you say they are no good to use going bush? Saying you've never replaced them before but pretty certain they are rubbish.
Trust me they work very well.

judging from the quality of Britpart stuff that I've rec'd I would be worried the tips will break off and fall into your engine.

your truck, your choice, you asked if they would be ok to use, up to you to accept the advice given, sorry it didn't go in your favour.

I wouldn't use anything Britpart, well meybe hub nut lock washers, but thats about it.

They are actually made by eurospares, # ERR6066B. I hear your opinions on britpart stuff going bush, good to hear and read others reviews, hopefully these dont breakdown or fail. Is eurospares familiar with you?

there are two levels of Britpart Glowplugs

Britpart / britpart Glowplugs are £2.35 each ex UK
Britpart / Beru Glowplugs are £10.19 each

Genuine Rover are £11.96 each
OEM Bearmach are £10.32

The South African report says that Beru ones arent that great compared to genuine so the britpart/britpart plugs must be absolute ****

so you see the problem, I'd say if yours are Eurospares and not Beru then you may have the **** ones whereby Britpare earned their rightful nickname of ****part

I would buy OEM but if the rover ones are only .36 more I'd buy genuine just to get the green oval on the box, and have that fuzzy feeling.

Hi,

Well after reading the advice given, and replacing with what I thought were the correct plugs, I was actually sold freelander plugs in discovery packaging. They lasted about two weeks, melted the tips and stopped working. I've since changed them with gen LR ones and these are great!! The car drives with heaps more pick up , is responsive and easy to start.
At the same time I also replaced my map sensor as I believed it was also faulty, because the car was showing that it was only boosting low, and after adjusting the waste gate, it made no difference. My car also was quiet harsh on and off the throttle, this has now gone.
The moral of this is dont just assume that she'll be right, luckily it hasn't caused big time engine damage.
