Anyone got a spare set of 101 wheel steps and bolts lying around?? Thought I'd ask here before going on a chase around the UK... Put it 'here' too, not in the wanted section as here is where those that might have a set reside... :) Cheers.

You going to put a set on the back wheels?

He has none, and yes. Even it up a bit. Tyres coming of this week, rims being shot blasted, then primed. Michelins on, and away! Serious steam clean at work tomorrow, then front swivel seals, 4.7's and try and do something with the not so flash swivels!! :(

do something with the not so flash swivels!! :(

The swivels only need to provide a smooth curved surface for the seals to seal on.

The easy way is to remove any rusted bits and clean out any pits or grooves so a good epoxy steel will bond. Fill the holes with the eboxy and finely sand to the provide a good match to the rest of the ball and it will last forever and create a good seal surface.

I suspect you'd be easier borrowing one as a pattern, or getting a photo with a few dimentions and making a set. They're like rocking horse **** over here, probably worse over there.

If you want to even up the look, take off the front ones. They are a liability off road anyway. I dinked one years ago, and the vibration at speed was horrendous! It took ages to to make round again.
The Volvo doesn't need them, and I have no issue getting in... yet...

Once they have a flat bit of plate welded into the center they become solid... Thought about making a set but thought I'd try and track a set down first!!!

How did you find the Volvo......did you import it or find it local from some one else ?
I know someone who is seriously looking at importing one.
I think they are a good bit of kit.
Did you know a 101 landrover and the Volvo have a common part ?
Its the front wheel cylinders.

I bought it from Sweden and imported and registered it myself, all about 5 years ago. Since then I have blown the head gasket, diff pinion, CV boot seals (at Vicroads!) and now the engine smokes... Oh, did I mention it was noisy?
Still, with 3 portal axles and 3 diff locks, it should go well off road - if it ever gets there.
Have a TDi Disco sat on the drive waiting to give up its engine and gearbox to a better cause.
However, as you may tell, this isn't the fastest moving project in Australia... it is currently sitting as the "next" project on my to do list and has done for the last 5 years...
When I get there, I'll add the details to this forum.
And yes, the brake shoes and cylinders are common with Land Rover.

I hear that a engine transplant is not that easy due to the engine being off set.
Any Volvo six I have played with has been bullet proof.?????????
Best of luck with it and please be free to post about the Volvo on this site

Just bringing this back to the top, as the one set I've found in the UK are still owned by the guy who supposedly wants to sell them but as of yet still has not come back to me!!! Grrrrr. Did find some new ones tho.... but could have a holiday for the price he's asking!!! Are the 2B steps the same size??? I know the holes are in a different place, but they can be welded up and re drilled.....

how desperate are you chap?

I've got a pair, but my 101 isn't going anywhere in a hurry. so I suppose I could try and find a set later.

Or I could do whatever when I work out what wheels I'm going to use as I'm now wondering if I need to change to the craddocks/matt lee wheels as 9.00s are hard to find

Keen to find a set, but not about to rob you of yours!! :) 'offroadsteve' over there offered me a set, but seems a little slow to find a postage cost for me! If you're set on a wheel change, I'd be keen, but then that leaves you without a set!!...

There are some with 5 holes and others with only the three.
