Hi, I am looking for someone who has been through this pain before. On my machine one snail (cam) has become loose. I bought a set of new snails and this is how they are supposed to be set up.
No3 is a a thin washer and unfortunately that means the snail just misses the pin that sticks out from the brakeshoe. This is the pin from the outside:
and this is from the inside,,,which is what the snail should hit.
Now I have two options:
1, Put a thicker washer behind the snail (and that is what has been done on the other snails, or
2. Knock the pin through further. Problem here is I do not know if that is possible. It is not clear to me just how the pin is held in position. Is it just forced through the shoe steel or is it welded in position. Why does it have a washer on the outside?
I have attached the photos as sometimes they disappear when I imbed them. BTW springs are on the wrong side of shoes according to the manual but I do not think that matters.
All help greatfully received
