2000 TD5 what is it?

I have a 2000 110 defender and have no idea what this is? Its under the hood next to the master cylinder on my LHD. The top looks broken and has some type of plunger on top

The bonnet open sensor/switch perhaps?

yeah looks like a broken bonnet alarm trigger. I pushed one of those down at a open bonnet line up wondering what it was.... **** myself!

its the bonnet alarm switch

I'de be getting a a new one, may be embarrasing if it fails
