Slowest driver on the road

Could not work out why every overtakes me on the roads :confused: , finaly worked out that i stick to the speed limit :angel: .

I have the opposite issue - I drive one of the slowest vehicles on the road - a Haflinger - up hill flat out is 40kph. I always have a long line of traffic behind me when going up hill at 40kph, the funny thing is I am in the left lane, as far left as I can get on a three lane wide road that has a 100kph speed limit, and even with no other cars in the outer lanes the train behind me of meek drivers stays bdehind too scared to move into the centre land or heaven forbid the fast land and over take me so they stay there following me at 40kph with nothing in the other lanes - I must say most of the drivers do seem to be female of oriental or indian apperance - just too scared to change lanes not matter the obstruction.

For the last three days, I can tell you that I was actually the slowest driver on the road. Felt like the horse and cart days

We drove 1700 km from Longreach to Sydney with Cruise - (if you can call it that) Control set on 80kmh , stuck in 4th gear all the way . Gearbox noise getting louder & louder, (last km in Low range 4th)

Very surprised that just shy of 3000 rpm we still did it under 10l / 100km , imagine it would be about 8 - 9 at that speed in 5th gear

So impressed with the clutch, many times taking off in 4th & riding the clutch, only smelt the clutch once (in Sydney traffic). The Td5 pulling from 1200rpm no issue, the Td5inside towing map is very good low down.

Garry, yes I also experienced drivers behind that had miles of open road and empty lanes in front & too afraid to pass, I have never known that before, I was agog

Could not work out why every overtakes me on the roads :confused: , finaly worked out that i stick to the speed limit :angel: .funny you say that, I'm in SA at the moment, and I've had the same problem :D I'm happy to stay in the left lane, occasionally overtaking on the freeways, but I've never had so many people so close they could read the radio station on the head unit, when there's another lane to go around ... and go well beyond the speed limit (on wet hilly roads) doing so :confused:

Why is everybody in such a hurry? Surely it's not just a LR thing? :confused:

Since getting my Disco I've not had as many problems in that respect.
Although she's not too keen on head winds.
Back when my work truck was a Bedford MS, different story. 48 MPH flat out, IF she felt like it. I had a line of traffic behind me pulling a load up Palmer Hill in SA years ago, she was pulling up that steep mongrel in top gear at about 23 MPH, WAY too fast to even consider backing her down to third gear, so up she went in top.
Got to love old crash gearboxes.
Same with my old S3, tired old girl, got even worse when she spotted a hill in the distance.
Began to puff and wheeze at the thought of having to pull herself up even small lumps in the world.

Ah the luxury of a Landy that can actually get to and hold the speed limits, with sooky lala comfy seats and a heater that works, a radio I can actually hear. Brakes, it's got brakes, that work too.

Ive got one of those stickers wrinklearthur. It sits on the spare wheel cover and says, If you can read this, I can deploy your airbags..actually works!

Happens all the time to us when we're pulling our small van. Idiot incompetents sitting behind occasionally popping out for a look but mostly just sitting there behind us probably fuming.
I always sit at about 95 so there's plenty of speed available for those who can overtake with confidence but I'm afraid the average WA driver is sadly lacking in any driving ability at all.
The ToyoNisscanMitzi turkeys on Exploroz love to call caravan tuggers "mobile road blocks" but it's really their own lack of skill which should be questioned.:D
