Guys
Has any one purchased roof rails & crossbars from;
LAND ROVER Discovery 3/4 Cross bars/Roof Racks (pair of side rails and cross bars) (http://www.aussiecarparts.com/cart.php'm=product_detail&p=49)
They advertise as being land rover style.
They are also on ebay.
If so what is the quality & fit like?

look like a copy of OEM bars which are not as good as the Rhino ones so not sure what a copy would be like. :o

I may be wrong but I may be the bloke that got them to put the 'Not suitable for glass roof models' on the advert.
I bought a set and when I tried to fit them they were so straight I felt that I fitted them they would 'explode' the glass roof as the glass roof forms the inside part of the rail channel..
the reason being, the OEM ones are curved both ways problably only 5-10 mm all up but this would make it 'most probable' to put too much pressure on the glass causing damage.
The problem I would also caution on, if you have a steel roof, as these completely straight rails will still need to be 'cramped' down using the roof seating fixtures and IMHO put pressure on the inside edge of the Channel. Wear MAY occur by movement and vibration leading to future problems (perhaps bearing the metal over time leading to rust issues...
This is only a caution and I have no experience, as my set were returned and kindly refunded according to my explanation to the seller.
They may have changed the product to fit more appropriately , I don't know, but the non glass roof would suggest not. OEM model owners will verify they are curved vertically and also horizontally.

I just installed a set of these on my D3. They look pretty good.
What I found with my set was that the 2nd mounting hole from the front, basically above the driver and front passenger did not line up exactly with the mounting hole. On their video they say that putting the final bolt between the rails and the roof at the back can be a bit tight. I may have been able to force it but I didnt want to risk putting undue stress on a bolt or the mounting. Drilling out this hole another 1/8th of an inch meant a perfect fit at all mounting points. My kit was also 2 bolts short but I had some M6x25mm Stainless Steel hex head bolts that were a perfect replacment.
The company are also advertising a mesh basket that mounts into the tracks directly which may be of some interest. Adding a basket or platform and attaching to the cross bars will end up quite a high solution and less stable than mounting directly in the tracks.
Does anyone have this basket?
Land Rover Discovery 3 4 Alloy Roof Rack Cage Full Length 2200x1200 Super Light | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LAND-ROVER-Discovery-3-4-Alloy-Roof-Rack-Cage-Full-Length-2200x1200-Super-light-/291053475444?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43c4239674)
Given the height of the D3 with the bars on, I'll keep the cross bars off as I hate the thought of catching them on a roof or door somewhere..
