I know it's sacrilege to some but I'm wondering what others do to clean the mud and dirt from the engine bay and how to get it off the tyres. I've tried scrubbing brushes on the tyres and the dirt/mud residue persists.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Was looking at one of those $300 steam cleaners from Bunnings and have already tried my Gerni but that doesn't really work too well.

A bit of sand driving will polish your tyres pretty quickly. That's if you've got access to some sand. I've got a small, rotating brush which fits on to the pressure cleaner & it does a pretty good job. I've never been able to get the engine bay 100% done although I reckon I'd get more access to it if the vehicle was on a hoist.

I use a product called Muc-Off. It's designed for dirt bikes and mountain bikes and makes cleaning my dirt-bike a 10 minute job even after a day in extreme mud. Works the same on my Landy. Helps if you have a pressure sprayer to get rid of the big stuff first. Thenjust spray Muc-Off on and leave it for 5 mins (in the shade not direct sun). Then just pressure spray it off and done.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, sand driving not really an option as it's 20 mins away, cost $20 to get into Boat Harbour and needs to be done at the end of the day so Muc off sounds like the go.

Chemtech ct18 works for me, spray over the car and engine bay, leave for a bit and then rinse off. :)

I use "supercheap" degreaser, works well for me,just spray it on leave for a couple of minutes and Walla! don't do it on the lawn or it will kill the grass,as it has a high kero content.
cheers
