Hi All,

New here, so a big hello to all and thanks in advance for any assistance, laughs, banter etc that is to come.

Changing from JK Wrangler Unlimited to Defender 110 S/wagon at the moment with delivery hopefully by the end of the month. We have a 2yr old and one on the way and I need to figure out what car seats fit best in the back of the 110. We have already moved away from the 130 C/Cab because the rear seats wouldn't recline which meant even less room.

Can anyone suggest any specific car seats which will be a little narrower (front to back) to get the most legroom in the back for the kids. Width doesn't matter as it will only ever be the 2 of them back there. Preferably a car seat with good head support for offroading as well.

Cheers

Have you got the restraint points fitted? Not sure where you are located (which state) but getting restraint points fitted in some states can be a PITA.My previous 2 defenders had simple child restraint points, but my latest Defender - MY13 I don't have any restraint points fitted - instead we use a foam booster seat for the 1 child who still needs a booster. That works well as it does not require a tether strap, and it has good side impact protection (more important for the other kids sitting next to the seat, who become crumple zones with the heavier full sizes seats.)

I've had 3 110's now with 3 children who are now 9,7 and 4. We have at times had three seats across the back of a 110, so it is possible. Unfortunately the seats we have probably are no longer available, but with the post 07 defenders - leg room was never an issue with the seats.

The only time we had problems was with the new borns, that required a rear facing seat. The only position that worked with a rear facing infant seat, was the center rear. It's not really a problem, they soon get used to that arrangement. The rear seats on a 110 do not recline either, but they are laid a bit further back than a CC. If it's any consolation I have at times owned a discovery and a Range Rover - and that limitation of the infant seats applied to them too, there just was not enough room to fit the seat behind a front seat, at least legally - because legally it's not allowed to touch the front seat. Really the center position is best for a baby anyway so that you can reach back and put the dummy back in... ;-)

Sorry not -much help - but my suggestion would be to go buy a seat from BIGW and return it if it does not fit, you can get a pretty good idea on relative size just by looking on the shelf.

Hi we have a 2 year old and a 2 week old in a new Defender in Brisbane. We have the baby capsule on the middle because it fits there best. The 2 year old's seat is on the passenger side. It is a snug fit. I'll check the brand and model tomorrow of the sest and capsule and post for you. If you need anchor points in Brisbane, we used Auto Extras in Herston. Cheers

We have a 'safe n sound' capsule seat in behind the drivers seat in the 110 for our 16 week old, fits nice and snug. was $250 of the top of my head, from target.

Both are Safe n sound. Rear facing capsule (unity travel system according to manual) and Maxirider AHR with adjustable headrest for the 2 yo. (Does from 6 months to 8 years and has lots of protection around the head area). The capsule comes out with baby in situ and we have an adapter for the pram so bub doesn't need to be woken. It will only fit in the middle seat but this works well.

Thanks for the info. Does the maxi rider give good leg room? All I need is enough for his legs to be able to bend down as the angle in the crew cab just wasn't there. Cheers

Yes there is a reasonable amount of leg room. I'll try and attach a pic
