Power Steering Hoses

Hi all,

Need to replece the power steering hoses from the reservoir, the ones that hose clamp, Originals are out of this world, any sugestions on type of hose to use and suppliers.

If i remember correctly, There's 2 hoses coming from the reservoir, one that goes to the pump, and one that goes to the box.

Take a look at Landrover Parts Catalog (http://lrparts.net.ru/) to identify the part numbers you need for your VIN number and then give a couple of the vendors on here, such as Roverlord or Landybitz, a call and see if they can help you.

If you contact some of those vendors, they'll be able to offer aftermarket parts that will most likely be substantially cheaper.

I use Enzed blue hydraulic pipe. There are two sizes needed, one is bigger than the other. You can buy just what you need and its sold by the metre. This stuff won't go hard like the rubber ones. I use it for the transmission lines also. There is an Enzed in Penrith, http://www.penrith.enzed.com.au/ContactUs.aspx

With the hose that runs to the box, the rigid line that is clamped to the chassis on mine had worn through at the clamp, so I ran a new hose all the way from the reservoir and eliminated the steel line.

thanks for that just what i was after, you would not happen to have the hose Diameteres would you ?? im at work and cant measure mine and would like to give them a call today get some prices..

The smaller one to the steering box line is 12.5mm (1/2") and the one to the pump is 16mm (5/8"). Get some new hose clamps for them too. I had a look, I didn't fully replace the metal line to the box, I cut it just before it reached the chassis and silver soldered a barb fitting for the 1/2" line - eliminating the rubbed through section. The brass barb fittings aren't exactly standard for this application. They have an outside threaded section to fit something else, but I drill the inside so the metal line can slip inside for a snug fit, then silver solder.

I did buy a standard replacement high pressure line. I looked into getting fittings brazed on so I could use new sections of hydraulic hose in future, but the cost for this came in at around $140. I don't currently have an oxy tank for welding, otherwise would have done it myself. An aftermarket high pressure hose from British Car Components was less than $100.
