Discovery Wins Again

On the way home through Sydney last night we got shunted on Pennant Hills road. Luckily no one was injured. The most dangerous part was exchanging details in the midst of mad Sydney traffic. An Audi Q9 shunted us into a Corolla. Score was Landrover 1, Audi 0, Corolla 0. We killed both cars. While they were waiting for tow trucks we drove home to Orange with a slightly bent number plate and a dented tailgate.

They are tough machines. I've become intimately acquainted with the D3's body and chassis with the one I'm repairing, and they are well built.

You do realise that I'm going to get one of those band-aid stickers and surreptitiously place it over your slightly dented tailgate when I next see your D3? :p

feel your pain, in the 2 years I was in sydney I got tail ended 31 times....

my most expensive repair was about 4 bucks for new bolts for the trailer plug socket.


I dont do sydney anymore.

And here I was thinking this was just another "Discovery wins 4X4 of the year" or something.....again:D
Seriously, a good outcome. Good to see a modern vehicle stand up well to a low speed impact. Ie, less dollars to repair than the car that hit you. Mmmm, might have to consider one of these new fangled Disco's to replace my D2a......??? Near future, not likely, havin too much fun with her!!!.:)

yep, of course you dont need the brakes much in a manual....

only one I felt sorry for was the old dude in a brand new ford who trying to get the last foot or so of his trailer out of the intersection stuck the hood of the falcon under the thread on the towball in the hitch then folded the bonnet and the radiator support, hello fan, meet radiator.

dumbest idiot was in a wrx, gave the disco boot loads from the lights with him behind me he had a dozy launch and by the time he realised that Id stopped accelerating at 60 he was going way to fast and it was time to introduce the tow hitch (which was in the low set position) to the condenser, radiator and a heap of enginey bits.

as it was still running he decided he'd drive it home after we finished swapping details.
