What is the widest tyre that will fit on a rr wheel without hitting the radius arms on a disco with 2 inch lift?
Equivalent to 31's

Sorry - your title mentions RRS rims but the text doesn't - are you wanting to put RRs rims in a Disco 1.

If so, they are a different stud pattern.

Range Rover Classic rims mate. The offset is +33 same as the standard disco alloy rims. The widest I would go personally is 245 (eg. 245/75 x 16inch). Some people report that they can scrub a tiny but, I haven't had that issue. You can adjust the stops for the steering slightly if need be, you won't lose much.

Liberty is correct, any wider than 245 and you'll be winding the steering stops out.

Just to add another option.
Ive put 265x75s on my RRC rims on a D1 but also fitted 30mm alloy wheel spacers and no rubbing or adjusting steering stops.

Cheers

Hey mate,

Couple of questions. How much is your disco lifted? How much have you cut the guards? Have you got flares? Also, aren't spacers illegal in most states (just pointing it out)?

The reason I ask is that my 245/75R16's on standard offset rims required a decent size camel cut on the rear and still scrub on occasion. Just by looking at them, the fronts wouldn't be too far off scrubbing. Adding 30mm of offset... I would assume they would scrub on the panels way more often, especially with almost another 2 inches of tyre.

The D1's just weren't designed to take larger tyres as far as I can tell. Plenty you can do to make them take larger tyres, but it does take a little work.

Just my two cents.

Hi Chris,

The disco has about 50mm of lift.
I didn't need to make any changes to the front arches but with the rear I took out close to 40mm all around and then camel cut the back of the arch. The disco had the standard disco flares which I re shaped with a heat gun to suit the new arch. That worked okay but I will put some proper flares on as there are a couple of wrinkles.
The tyres don't stick out past the original flares and only very occasionally rub the inside back of the wheel arch. Mainly when the axles are crossed up big time.

Re the spacers, they are hub adapters so they bolt to the hub and then the wheel bolts to the adapter seperatly. These were on when I put it over the pits to re-register after a rebuild and engine swap last year.

Interesting point though, I'll give the rego guys a call and see what they reckon.

The photo attached shows the set up reasonable well.

Cheers

Ben
