Can anybody by any chance please lead me to a picture of the type of bonnet mount that I have on my late IIa by any chance. Googling around it looks like there are a heap of different bonnet mount setups, but I couldn't see (or recognise) any that looked like mine. I'm looking to mount a spare 7.50 on the bonnet, so will be trying to find the correct hardware to do this. It was complied 3/72 if that helps at all.

There are different mount types, just trying to work out what this should have. eg:

Ahhh, just found this in REMLR. This is what I was trying to work out. 2 bolts and 2 of those lug things are needed.

Yep you got it!
According to the series one manual they are called, clamp for spare wheel and bolt for clamp.
But I have always known them as Z lugs and bolts for bonnet spare wheel.

Not sure if you have the pieces but I think the sizes of the bolts changes mid-way through the 2a model run (maybe when the lights moved?)

The earlier ones were thicker than the later cars ... or other way around ... either way it changed ;)

Although if I'm wrong, I'm sure somebody will say so :D

Well I removed the "Z lugs" and bolts from the '64 S2a (narrow lights) and fitted them to my '70 S2a (wide lights). Had no problems really, so I'm not sure you're correct:confused:.

The bolts did not change size - the heads of them did, to match the size of the wheel nuts, which changed from 9/16"BSF (5/8"W) to 26mm in about 1970, and remained the same throughout the remainder of 2a production and all S3 production (wheel studs were the same (9/16"BSF) from the start until almost the end of 2a production, changing then to 16mm, but the outside of the nuts changed to the metric size a little before the studs changed. Nuts then remained the same until now.)
Of course, the bits currently fitted may well be from a different vintage to the vehicle. The thread of the bolts remained 9/16" BSF.

Mine has one of each bolt head size, so if anyone wants to swap a big head for a little head (I want the little headed one) let me know!

I don't think that someone that picks up midgets should talk about wanting a little head :o
