Hello,

I have been lurking around here for a while now so I thought it was about time I shared some photos of my 101 project.
I purchased the 101 in 2000 (1978 GS 24V 26000km) so I could take my family on a "back to the Track" trip in 2005 - I know that boat has floated.
My family call it the 50.5 because its only half a 101.

Anyway to date I have rebuilt the engine, completely striped the 101, Sand blasted, etch primed and two pack enamelled the chassis. The same for all under body parts etc
The Cab and tray are sitting in the drive way stripped naked waiting for the new workshop to be completed. Hopefully I will have that finished in the next month.
I'm not a rivet counter but I am planning on keeping at original as possible.

As time goes by I will add more photos of the restoration process
These photos were taken on the day I took delivery.

I cant work out how to attach the photos in full size. The links below are for my drop box

Nice.:) Hope the resto progresses well, and that you post plenty more pics along the way.

What part of the country are you in?

Cheers - Gav

That is the gun rack.

Andrew - nice looking vehicle and welcome to the club. Keep us updated on your progress but I guess if you have already owned this for 13 years it will be slow :o.

we are here to help :).

That'll b a decent shed when its up! Ideal for 101 restoration!!! What you've done so far looks good!! What did you use to get the hundreds of layers of paint off the body??? Keep up the good work!!:)

Looking good. Very jealous of your shed. I've thought about one a number of times but as we are planning on developing the block after the wedding it would basically get pulled down within 2 years :(

Next house will have one!

Have you decided colour yet?

The size of the shed was limited by our lovely council. It's 9m long by 4.5m wide. The paint was removed by paint stripper, high pressure hose and sand blasting. I was lucky to have access to an industrial steam cleaner at work.

I scored two brand new door tops painted Australian army green. I took one to the paint shop and they matched the colour. The only difference is I got satin two pack not mat.

I cant work out how to put the photos into the post - when I preview it seems to work ok but when I post they are only small.

You have done it correctly; the small photos are called thumbnails and they are the best for a forum, because they load quickly when a user opens a post. If you click on your thumbnails, they enlarge to a useful size.

Full-size photos on a forum are pain sometimes, because if there is slow internet, they take forever to download and if the reader has already seen them, it can be rather irritating to have to wait for ages,

Cheers Charlie
