Engine number query ? 1955 86 inch

Can anyone shed any more light on my engine ( 57110273 in chassis & firewall plate number ) question being is it close enough to be considered the original engine and is there any way to identify it? The engine numbers in my w shop manual all seem to be groped into rhd and lhd regardless of where they ended up

If your chassis number is somewhere around 57661200 (a couple of hundred numbers either side) then it is likely the original engine.

That is correct, there were only two engine number sequences. Engines in RHD vehicles all followed the 86" RHD Home market sequence while the LHD all followed the 86" LHD Export market. There were no CKD engine numbers.

Figure so lol l rover numbers just befuddle me...relaxing trip except the Sydney run( 4 am) and through the hills n back roads , fish short on the plate but you wouldn't starve , thanks for the chat btw good to see more unusual landies :)
