View Full Version : VicRoads Licence photo

I had to renew my licence this morning. The renewal letter advised that there was no requirement to take a new photo, as such it could be paid online (VicRoads don't issue on the spot anymore, all licences are posted).
I'll be 34 when the licence expires and needs renewing again, but the photo they're using on file was taken at 18 years of age.
Is it just me or does that seem a bit ridiculous?

Seems to be the same wherever you go. Doubt if you'd recognize me from the photo on my DL either.

Obviously it just depends on whether you're uglier or better looking by now.

Bugger I just got my new licence photo yesterday. I wish they did use my old photo...... I had a lot more hair 10 years ago.:(

The photos have an expiry date as well. You will probably find that you will receive a request to update your photo before your license next expires.
Seems like a good way to waste taxpayers money to me. Issue a new license when it expires and then issue another new license when the photo on it is deemed to be too old.

better using a mug shot from earlier days than having the balding criminal look I have now.
I I kept my old licences and looking at the time line of them the hair recedes about 30 % per licence.
On my forklift licence I look like a BLF Thug.:o

I almost always get asked why Im not smiling for my drivers license photo.
in reality its usually cause Im cheesed off at a 2 hour wait for a 5 minute process. but I always tell em..
"Cause If i have to pull it out Its most likely I aint going to be smiling.

In the ACT, your photo is taken every time you renew your licence (ie every 5 years).

Seriously, look out when that happens - you'll lose the rest of your hair trying to keep track of your regos then. It's caused a lot of chaos over here. I made up my own stickers to go somewhere obvious in our cars, but I would have paid a little extra to keep the proper stickers. I don't know what you're supposed to do if you borrow a mate's car. Check it on the Internet first?

In NSW they have an App for smart phones so you can look up a Rego to see if its current as we dont have Rego stickers now.
Perhaps check that out for your own state see if you have access to one too

In NSW, you're not allowed to smile for your photo. Probably for the reason you said. "Cause If i have to pull it out Its most likely I aint going to be smiling".:(
