Dont forget the very simple maintenance job of cleaning out the PCV oil seperator in the drivers side rocker cover. It pull out simply, with a jewellers screw driver and/or needle nose pliers, and can get awfully grotty, see below, and then cause an imbalance in the PCV system.

When I first got the car the seperator was sitting on the exhaust manifold.
Do the bosch engines earth onto the alternaror braket?

Can you elaborate on the location of this part. A pic in situe would be perfect.

I'll try to describe accurately.
It is on the top of the drivers side rocker cover, towards the rear of the rocker cover. It sits inside a small vertical tube/pipe that protrudes from the rocker cover.
(on Thor) Pull off the rubber hose that connects from the rocker cover to the upper inlet manifold, and the oil separator is sitting inside the rocker cover vertical pipe.
benji: Yes, Thor earths to the alternator/engine bracket.

Thanks for that, I thought it would be under the hose but did not want to cut the hose clamp off to find I was wrong. Why dont they still use good old worm drive clamps instead of the one use type? I guess I know the answer is the Dealers can charge a stupid amount per clamp at service time.
