is there one with thin enough to fit the nuts on the rear calipers on a 110/D1
 
7/16 or 11mm
 
my 7/16 it just too thick around edges....if that makes sense i.e. there is not enough room to slide the spanner on
 
would i be right that to more i pay for a spanner the thinner it m ight get?

I love my Snap-On flare nut spanner, it's the only one I've met that is actually constructed with metal where it's needed for strength and thin where clearance is needed. All my other flare nut spanners get hit with a grinder to remove excess metal around the front of the jaws where it's not needed. Doesn't seem to compromise their function in any way.

Might be easier to take the one off at the T piece and slide a ring down I have 3 here stahwillie -  fits OK Kinchrome a little fatter and Proto thin multi hex wich I would`nt  give tool box room:o

When I did my steering box I looked at a few of these. Even the Snap-on ones seemed too chunky. I ended you cutting/slotting a standard Gedore ring/open end spanner. It was a 12 point so didn't require as much swing between fitments which was good for the tight room. I do realise that it wont be as strong as a proper Flare nut spanner but as long as I'm sensible with the forces it should be ok. This was also the reason I was happy to sacrifice a fairly good quality tool, as I figured the cheaper junk out there would just fail and possibly wreck the nut. I also have them in the tool kit now and any steering box change over etc will be easier for it.

i have cut a ringspanner for something ages agoand you are right it doesn't have the strength

snap on ones work well (we have a set at work)
my kingchrome ones just fit but are hit and miss because well wouldnt you know it Britpart calipers have worse tolerances than landrovers OEM spec for panel fit.

I've got Kincrome and they fit ok.
