i have a ford ranger 2007 xlt 4x4 3L.
To cut a long story short a few weeks ago i was driving at about 120 clicks and the timing belt in my car stripped the teeth and my valves hit the pistons and it stopped. I pulled the rocker cover off and found 10 of the 16 rockers broken. the motor i turned over by hand and it felt like it still had good compression, as well as that i pushed the valves up and down and they all came back to the same height and felt smooth. ie im pretty sure the valves are good and its just the rockers that broke.
Anyway i put the new rockers in installed the cams timed it all up properly and did a valve lash adjustment. i connected it all back up and tried to start it. the engine light came on and it wouldn't start. I plugged in my mates code reader and it came up with code P0340 CMP sensor (RH) circuit malfunction ON 1 CCM. as i figured this would be normal due to the motor going out of time with the belt stripping its teeth i cleared it and tried to start it again. the code came back again.
the motor is timed correctly and i cant see why it would happen.
any ideas would be appreciated.
