Hi Guys, I am looking for some advice on strong rock sliders - any recommendations? I want one that I can safely drop the side onto a rock with out it bending or shifting.
Thanks in advance
Darren.

G'day Darren, I just recently finished fabricating my own. I used 75x50x3mm RHS. Powder coated finish.
Cheers

Think about the ones which have round jacking points on, similar to front and rear bumper. Hi-Lift jack with adapter fits straight into them.

You can also get ones that are both rock and tree sliders, which look neat. C

Have a look at these.
Mulgo Side Rails for Land Rover Defender 110 | Buy 4x4 Land Rover Toyota Nissan Accessories and Parts Online Store | Expedition Centre Australia by Mulgo (http://www.expeditioncentre.com.au/online-store/vehicle-protection/mulgo-side-rails-for-land-rover-defender-110.html)

All of Mulgos stuff is first rate. I don't think you will damage these in a hurry. Definitely a future mod on my D 90.

We have some very good pricing on Terrafirma Sliders, and our own products.

A couple of people I drive with have Mulgo sliders, I too have them on my 110, and we give them a pretty hard time. I've rubbed through the paint and zinc coating on mine in several spots. They hold up well :)
Easy to fit, locally made, ticks all the boxes for me.

Hi there
I have the TerraFirma rock and tree sliders. Very happy. Well priced. Fit well.....but they do have a gap between the bottom of the doors and the top of the slider. I am yet to see (in person) a Defender where they line up perfectly.....

Thats because no Defender body panels ever line up, the sliders are fine its the defender thats not...

We can supply you the TF810 for $570 plus shipping... Very good price cheaper than our own Landbitz ones and Mulgo's ones, and just as good..

i just finished making muself a set, i looked at buying a set but just wasnt sure about the mounting and how strong the ones on the market were so i ust got out the welder and knocked some up.

I used 50x75x3 rhs and for the mounts and bracing i used 6mm plate which i plasma cut to suit the shape of the chassis. Than the pipe is 44mm x 3mm

Took me roughly 4-5 hours to make and about $60 for materials.

Hi .bp., interested to see how you mounted them do you have any pics of the mounts bolted up to the chassis?

Another vote for Mulgo if your looking for something solid and extremely professional. I've had them on my 130 for 2 years now and they have saved my sills more than once. Extremely well mounted and are holding up great, infact they still look new.

Are the TF ones Zinc coated?

I have the Mulgo ones and have given them a pretty hard time with no problems at all. The Zinc coating is priceless otherwise I would just have two bits of rusty steel hanging off the bottom of my truck by now.....

Quick grave dig on an old thread.

Can someone please tell me what brand the sliders/steps are on my 2010 defender 110?

I want to remove them for a sill replacement style - I like the Mulgo option.

Thanks.

Hi Bud

I went with the terrafirma rock sliders which replaces the sill panel under the doors which increases clearance by approximately 50 mm

Cheers

Thanks fellas. Makes sense to have them as a sill replacement in my eyes.

So does anyone know which step/sliders I currently have? So I can offload them for a good deal

Cheers.

Anyone know where I can get some sliders like this. That is, a full sill replacement with no step, lightning holes, and hi lift points in it? (I don't necessarily like most of the linex vehicle - it's very much overdone - just the sliders)

Cheers

Tim.

Darren. It all depends on how hard you "drop the side onto a rock", how much side clearance you want and if you want them to be a step. I have a custom set of Mulgo that I like, but I give them a hard time as isuzutoo-eh mentioned.

If you rub up against rocks and walls like I do, then get rock and tree sliders, not just rock sliders. The side clearance from the tree sliders has saved my bacon quite a few times. This is the customisation that I got from Mulgo - slightly wider sliders.

If you will come down heavily on rocks then consider ensuring that your sliders have a bit of flex room before they touch a panel. Especially on their front and rear ends.

Here's the various sliders that I've had...

Terrafirma rock & tree sliders. Strong and have (a bit of) side clearance. Not very good as a step as they have no tread:

My current custom Mulgo sliders that have been on my last 2 defenders. Strong and plenty of side clearance which also allows a nice, broad tread plate. I've just had them lowered to give about 5mm extra clearance between the panels.

Scratch that. Dumb question.

Yes!!

That holds the firewall to the chassis!

Put it back!

In future use a LR mechanic! :)
