I thought I would be smart and replace air bags as a scheduled preventive exercise. Fronts went in on Aug 2, never had an issue with suspension until - Today, 15 days later, come out of the shop and front right is on the stops, great .

Start it up and up she bounces, drive the 3km home and it dropped before I get there. On the driveway restart it and up it bounces again, turn it off and I can hear leak at FR. It drops before I can get a jack under it...

Strut out, pressurise it, hold finger over the inlet port and dunk it in water. Air is leaking from under the top plate. Email sent, see how I go with this...

Lucky I have the old ones stored away, refit original which doesn’t leak. Getting quite fast at this now, strut unit changed within 20 mins of getting home, hardest part is getting it up on stands.

So much for preventative maintenance :dbcry:. It's had the opposite affect.

Dude that blows big time :(
At only 15 days old I'd be ringing up the supplier and having a free replacement sent out ASAP!

The supplier has responded and is going to resolve it – not bad for a Saturday.

At this stage I’m not going to **** can the supplier or manufacturer. However I can say that after stupid amounts of research, I’ve found extremely low numbers (1 or 2) of similar failures in EVERY one of the 5 brands available. (I know of only 5).

Need to get a better pic that actually shows where the air is coming from.

If my memory is correct I read about problems with one brand in particular. Think the goto brand now is Delphi.

Gary, you may be right, but I found a Delphi unit with the same problem, only one.

Bit more investigation today, it's not been tightened properly during assembly, a center lock nut has come undone. The strut mount plate rotates to allow for steering, if I spin the plate clockwise the leak stops, spin it counter clockwise and it's like turning a tap on, starts slow and then poors out.

update: Email in my inbox - they are sending a new one.

Isn't it easier to see whats what in a clear tub with some sunlight...
