is there anything good we Aussies can take out of this? surely this has to be the lowest we can go.

No matter how bad the rugby gets, at least we'll never call an esky a chilly bun.

Australia would have been in a much better position if they have actually stuck a Gold jersey on Ewan McKenzie and he had been in the run on side ....
And kept Robbie as the coach. ...;)

100% agree. What a complete waste of time and make a great game look like a stupid game.

agreed - but I think they are trying to get the hookers to learn how to hook again instead of having he halfback feed the ball into the second row. I reckon it will be good once every one gets used to it.
I had to laugh when Genia fed the ball in and it came out the other side - neither hooker went for it!

Seriously.....?
Physicality....check...no issue there...
When they actually got their (as in the Wallabies) stuff together ...Kiwis on the back foot.
Usual Kiwi penalties....well .... maybe one day that wont be part of their strategy....:wasntme:
As usual the Kiwis were unforgiving when there were errors...that why they are right up the top of the game....but I saw lots of potential in the Aussies tonight.
Glad to see the back of Deans... :D

Kiwis just play that much better off the Wobblies errors, what was cooper thinking with the short kick off and then the try wasting non pass near the end...?

One game at a time, it wasn't so much they won, as we gave the game to them on a plate. Forget the score, there were two All Blacks who stood out, Cruden & McCaw. Hooper proved once again he can match it with the best. Cruden was the best on the field, but do you remember his first Test? Absolute shocker, they hooked him from the field early, Toomua can take heart from that. I saw enough to suggest you fair weather supporters may once again eat your words, but not just yet. Bob

A good quote in this mornings NZ Herald (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10913873)...
...What could they do when Aaron Cruden, barely 85kg with a phonebook down his trousers, could stay on his feet in the tackle and flip the ball out the back of his hand in the contact?
I believe this game is the 100th win by the All Blacks against the Wallabies. One teams milestone, another teams millstone. Good to see the Wallabies turn up to play though. Edge of the seat stuff at times.
It'll be a cracker next week... do you guys realise Wellington and the top of the South island has been shaken quite severely with earthquakes lately (Links here (http://info.geonet.org.nz/display/quake/2013/08/16/Damaging+quake+hits+the+north-east+of+the+South+Island)and here (http://info.geonet.org.nz/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=5800119)). 21st July (I think) and then again this Friday, 6.5 in July and a 6.6 on Friday. Heaps of damage in the top of the south (Rural townships of Ward and Seddon) nearest the where the epicentres are (Cook Strait in July and on the Mainland this Friday). Westpac stadium is being checked by engineers as we talk and there is confidence the game will go ahead but there is a few damaged buildings in Wellington also.
Lets hope the shakes stay confined to the Aussie coaches (and Quade).

The comments were made in the depths of despair :D
Everything you say is right. The stats say we should have won, 60% possession, won on rucks and mauls etc but we made too many mistakes. They did have good passages of play but, as usual, they could not translate them to points. Same thing happened against the Lions.
I guess, to be honest, it is more about how good the All Blacks are - they turn their opposition inside out making them look worse than what they are.

AKA 12 big guys in shorts get together for a cuddle. I hope they get the rules sorted out, if the scrum does go the same way as League, I'll give up and watch ballet instead.
I played the game for over 30yrs as a tight head prop and retired in 2011. In that time the ARU tried many different ideas with the scrum rules. Some were good but most were bad in many ways. A lot of the rules were decided on by liability lawyers or Brylcreem haired backs in some office far away from the rugby field.
I think that Mckenzie will sought this lot out in due course but for now the front row will keep getting their heads shoved up their arses. It's been that way for a while and will continue to do so until whoever the tight head on the day decides to grow some Burrahs and lead the pack in hard at the scrum engagement.
Grow some Burrahs boys and have a real go.

This is the reason why I think we are in good hands, rugby wise. A quote [ or two] from the Courier Mail mag. Q weekend on Ewen McKenzie,
From Rod McCall " one of Ewens strengths is he has the tools to deal with different players individually and get the best out of each of them. I had some decorated ex-Reds players from golden eras get up me for for the selection of a non- Qlder as coach. The former NSW prop with the Brumbies streak who started out in Victoria has answered that pretty well. You can get street smart coaches, and schoolteacher types. With Ewen, you get a really open minded intelligence for coaching which can deal with information in more way than one. He's not locked into one game plan. This decision for the Wallabies should have been made two years ago " Amen to that. Five and one half years of Deans cannot be fixed in one game.
And , in Ewens words, " To me it is a week to week contract, if you are not doing the right thing off the field, that contract might not be there next game. I want players to step up & be very proud. It's not putting the jersey and thinking ' now get me some TV deals.' It can never mean that. "
And, when O'Connors agent tried to nut out a deal in 2012, he asked McKenzie what he was prepared to offer. The answer? " less than James is being offered elsewhere" because Ewen wanted to be sure O'Connor was in it for the right reasons. O'Connor went to the bigger money at the Rebels, and is now trying to find a third club.
I've seen how the general public in NZ turn on their team, when they start losing [ 2003 World cup, anyone ? ] and I've seen how wannabes cling to winners, hoping to get some reflected glory [ these same people probably have England supporters flags in their cupboard, or Lions flags, so they can have a bet each way] Aussie supporters stick, thick or thin, all I ask is, none of you wannabes start supporting the Wallabies when they are again on top, we don't need you. Meant in the nicest possible way , of course :spudnikconfounded: :D Bob

Speaks volumes, your insecurity is shining through, I sincerely hope when you grow up, you realise your faith has been invested on shakey values. Don't worry, when we become a republic, we will accept all your Samoans, Tongans & Fijians as refugees, & they can play for us, & you can have all of our English All Black supporters, fair swap, I suggest, Bob ;)

Call me Anal but I despise any form of 'bending' the rules in any form in any sport. I grew up playing and following soccer but cannot watch the game now since I've seen so many Academy Award winning efforts after a 'Tackle'.
I call it all cheating. Back your team, back their ability without that rubbish.
Individual players have desperation moments and brain snaps....they are human. However, there are players in all sports that are truly respected for being complete gentlemen and playing the game so cleanly and so well...because they love and respect their sport, their game.
I'd be embarrassed to follow a team that actually employs it as part of their game strategy.
Right, stepping off my soap box now...LOL. :)

Cruden and Barrett have been ruled out of this weekends game so now the ABs will field their 4th choice first five... it'll be either Colin Slade or Tom Taylor. This could get interesting... ;)
Cruden has a dinged up cruciate ligament and is out for up to six weeks, while Barrett has a sore calf and is out for a week.
Bring back Beaver... :lol2:
Edit: Engineers have given the Westpac Stadium the all clear after the earthquakes of late. All on in the cake tin pending a calm earth...

"All those penalties were in the same part of the field. As soon as we got in their half, it was a penalty," lamented Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie.
"So you're having a shot at goal and then - guess what? - you're receiving a kick-off again and you're back playing in your own half.
"We didn't spend a lot of time playing much rugby. It was a penalty, bang, yeah we kicked it and we got three points for it, but we were never able to play much.
"You'd like to get a bit more momentum, but we didn't get that."
At least Robbie Deans didn't cry, moan and whinge in public when he got beat fair and square like the new Wallaby Coach is.
What an embarrassing sook! ...

I don't think the AB's were that crash hot really. No dominance in scrums, ( not that anyone did), we lost a pile of line outs, and Crudens tactical and restart kicking was dubious. All things we can control and we bolloxed them. Counter attacking, no prob, so if we get the rest sorted look out.
An Bob, I thought u had given up the trolling rubbish, but under pressure I guess you revert to type.
