Hi all.
If you have read my previous posts, you will soon realise that I'm a nutter, always asking how I can change this and that, so the following will be no surprise.
After a lengthy search for a suitable tray back ute that will take a slide on camper and tow car trailers full of junk, I came up looking at Landcruiser. After considering the having the lobotomy that turns me into a sheep and all the other nasty things that I would become as a Toyota owner again, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I have the answer once more sitting in the drive.
My D3 has 260ks on her and I've spent a small fortune on her recently and was about to throw all that away for a crappy Toyota. Thank you Land Rover universe for letting me see the light...........
Now all I have to do is find a reputable body builder to perform the conversion over to a ute.
That's where you guys come in, so get typing and respond as I'm ready to go NOW!!!!!
Before SWMBO changes her mind.:p

I'd suggest dropping into the local undertaker and asking where they buy their herses from and who does the body build.. no pun intended:D A competent body works will have access to structural engineers to sign off on the changes for RTA requirements as well as metal workers who can produce a topnotch job... be careful everyone will want one:D Talk about a luxo! You could always claim the finished product is what a 130 series aspires to be:twisted:

Don't forget to post this pics of the completed job.
I was looking at a chop and extension and add a ute back. No one would touch a D3 and D4 anymore for chassis extensions. All the well known ones gave me a outright no...they would never do another :-(
This is what I wanted but in a D4 version.

I emailed a mob up in Qld and they didn't bother responding and I'm getting no everywhere else, so I'll wait and see what happens.
In any case I will keep the forum posted and thanks for all the suggestions and messages.

This is what I think should be the future for the Disco , a multi tasking vehicle

Interestingly, in the UK Discos are used as farm vehicles. Virtually as a ute.

As an update, the cook said something has to go, so as I was walking out the door, she said nooooooo, I need you for cleaning out the gutters and feeding the dogs and in any case who will continually pick on my driving ability?
She had a point, so unfortunately the D3 will go, but not without a fight.
I still harbour visions of a D3 ute, but not with this wife, maybe #2 will be more understanding.
Oh, if any of you tell her about my plot, I will "KILL YOULE"
