View Full Version : Solved - vibration noise from windscreen

This is to save the sanity of anyone else who comes across the same issue as it was driving me bananas for weeks. At freeway speed a vibration noise would start occasionally and it sounded like it was in the dash initially or at least the base of the windscreen. It would only happen around 110km/h but not always.

Long story short it was the trim across the top of the windscreen. For now I've run some black PVC tape along the edge and the vibration has stopped but the proper fix will be to remove the trim and run a head of sealant to adhere it to the glass.

Hope someone else finds this useful!

Good result, from the title I was afraid you were going to say smash the windscreen and the noise stops, your way seems a better idea.

Hi

I have exactly the same noise and thought it was coming from the sunvisor area.

However a quick check of the strip along the top of the windscreen confirmed that is is a little loose and would vibrate and rattle for sure!

Thanks
Steve

It doesn't need to be very loose to start vibrating. Mine appeared to be firmly stuck down until I got a sharp knife under the leading edge to confirm it wasn't attached firmly to the glass.

Considering the location of the strip it's easy to see what's happening - I blame Bernoulli :p
