tictic or tactac all the same sorta

i have 95 3.9Lv8i
i have discovered a noise tictic or tactac im finding it around the alternator / a/c pump area there abouts, now iv had exhaust manifold gasket got before and it dosent sound like that or tappets, im unsure as to what it is any ideas and all idead are helpfull

i'll get som audio when i can

Very careful use of the old standby stethoscope, or in other terms, a large tang through screwdriver held against one ear will tell you where the noise is coming from.
Place the blade end against external casings of all ancilliary bits, put your ear against the handle end, any sounds will travel up the blade very well.
Again, do this VERY carefully near moving, rotating, or in general human unfriendly bits.

A length of rubber hose (garden hose or the like) held near your ear will also work.This will be more forgiving around your plug leads and rotating parts if you happen to come in contact :o
