110 alt air con

hi all got a question has anyone any ideas or theory's on different types of air con units for a 110 300tdi defender.
my compressor is shot so thinking about one with more kick would it be possible to fit a electric air con unit don't they run them in trucks?, something like a small portable unit
would that not eliminate the power drop?, looked at the new Waeco top mount units don't think they would stay in one piece where we go.
any ideas would be great cheers.

Check out Red Dot. There are a few running them. Also hot rodder places have custom ones. I have a custom one mounted on my roof that works well. (see build thread).

There was a previous set up posted on here by going bush. He had a replacement unit with outlet mounted on cargo barrier.

I had one in old County but mounted in the very rear facing forward. Very effective but it blew the fur off the dogs into the front seat...

The red dot are the rolls R one unit option but the alternative can be had for half that and you don't have any external box or hole in the roof. Redot for 130??
