I was cruising around today looking at new D4s and testing them .....very nice, a completely different beast indeed.
I am interested in a bit of peace of mind and the idea of getting a new one with warranty seems very appealing,
Can I get this peace of mind from an extended warranty program?

As far as I know the only extended warranty worth it's salt is the one offered by the LR dealers, the only catch is you have to purchase it before the OEM warranty expires. And even then only an extra 2 years or 200,000 km.
I have on occasion in the past had extened warranties included in the price of a used car from a dealer, but when you look at the fine print - well 'nough said.

The Allianz one is the go and are behind (I think) the LR extended warranty.

Correct. Allianz carries the insurance, however I was told by Allianz that it can only be purchased through the dealer.

I should have mentioned in my previous post that I did buy the LR/Allianz extended warranty. I made one claim only (about four weeks after it took effect) and that was for an EPB actuator which cost about $1700 fitted. When I say claim, the dealer rang me to tell me what I was up for, I said doesn't the extended warranty cover that? Dealer said yes.....Done and dusted replaced at no cost to me.
