Well it's official....... we became "Australian Citizen's" last night as we attended the long awaited ceremony :MileStone:
Thanks Australia :twobeers:
It was a very friendly fun packed evening and was nothing like we expected :) I was quite amazed how many people from different countries were in attendance taking the pledge. Although now on the electoral register we won't get to vote this year as the paperwork won't go through in time.

That's great. Welcome to Oz.
I know what you mean about the ceremonies. I've been to several in the last two years to support people taking the oath and it's always a great time.
One new citizen - an ex-refugee - told me recently it was the first time in his life he'd ever felt he 'belonged' anywhere.
What I see is that new citizens are often very keen to work hard and make new lives, and that's good for the country.

WELCOME!!!
I love seeing these posts, it wasn't so long ago that I got my citizenship. just had a trip back to Europe and was so proud to use my Aussie passport.
Still support England in the Cricket though. Can't seem to shift that allegiance.

Congratulations Jerry. It must really hurt not being able to vote for either Tweedledum or Tweedledee.

Congratulations, I had my ceremony in 92', when I was a 9 year old. Didn't seem very important at the time, but I really appreciate being a part of such an awesome country after going back to Europe a few times! Oz really is the lucky country.:D

Good for you, and your family. I was born here, and one part of my family has been here for about 40, 000 years, some of the other, from England & Ireland. Enough said, welcome to the family, Bob

Congratulations,
I fall into the same category as Epic Dragon - came to Oz when I was 6 and am a permanent resident but I've been here a bit longer - 37 years...
I really should get around to it one day shouldn't I...:D
