just sayin'

driving my 110 is the best part of any day. its an oldie, but it fills me with joy, and confidence, and satisfaction everytime i drive it. in fact, i would almost say interact with it, not drive it ! :)

Experiencing a fair bit of work stress for quite some time now, and the landie just helps normalise/equalise things :)

is this normal for isuzu turbo 110 owners??? or am i a weird anomaly

:D

Gotta agree JC. Just come back from a trip to Townsville after fitting recoed front RFSV diff with trutrac and recoed MD rear diff - it feels like a new vehicle. The engine is
23k old, gearbox/transfer 10k and the diffs 1k. Absolutely no backlash in the drivetrain - love it:D

Oh I can't wait to get mine on the road, it sat idle for a long time, then I bought a hoist, best thing I ever did:D. I'm finally inspired again! Now I'm just waiting on parts:((not the bit from you Brian, the many other bits that come before that bit:))

Mine has 650K on the engine, about 500K on the rear diff, 150+K on the trans and who knows on the front diff...

BUT, it is tight and just brilliant to drive with a new 4 bolt steering box and recent lower column, DeCarbon shocks and stocker defender springs (130 fronts), and new front and rear shafts, all 1998 model Defender brakes, etc etc.

TBH I drive LOTS of Puma and Td5 models, Chipped and standard , and I just still enjoy mine everytime I get in it:D:D:D:D

Doesn't even need a turbo to put a smile on my dial, it's just so willing and confident, when you climb into the driver's seat you're suddenly more important yet time doesn't matter because you are in control of your destiny.
It's a cross between a huge bulk carrier or massive locomotive, with a nimble Caterham or Ariel or sports bike.

It isn't a car, its an adventure enabler.

I don't know how people can sell them.

...and various other vain poetic imagery that mere peasants would shake their heads at in misunderstanding. :D

Yep, gotta agree with all of you. Mine was a bit hard to live with for a while but now it is really getting there. The hardest thing now is driving home from work.... So tempting to just keep going into the hills.

My passion for Land Rovers also started in the back seat of a my dads old Wagon.
Loved it as a kid

Sadly it was a 2.6 litre F engine but the passion remained.

Engines are 2ab1 and 4bb1 the 2AB being the 13KVA.Thanks to design by Heath Robertson either engine can drive the boat- the genset- or start the other engine gearbox is Bw 2.0 .1
The Turbo is 18 m ( tall that is)

Thanks Noel

No turbo in mine and I love it to bits. Some say they're so slow and noisy, but to me it's all just tough and torquey. I often jump in and think how damn awesome this truck is. I know exactly where your coming from Justin. Wont be selling mine.............ever.

We shipped our Isuzu Rangy to Tanna Island in Vanuatu to help set up our quad bike business.
It pulled an 8 ton bus up the beach from the barge, and this weekend will pull 2x 5T containers on wheels up the same beach and 8 km's down to our land. Its got to be the best vehicle for this Island. Last Sunday we drove it to the volcanoe and across the huge ash plains. What a blast Its a great combination.

Just got back on Saturday from a 6000k trip Melb, Birdsville, Hay River, Alice Springs, Birdsville-Tibooburra-Melb.

Think I have brought home half of Central Oz in the back by the looks of the dust when I unpacked yesterday!!

Happily cruises at 110 on the highway, crests sand dunes at 600 rpm without stalling when you get the wrong gear (or run out of them in high range), extracts 4Tonne toyota's from the holes they've dug themselves,. You can tie firewood on the bull bar, stand on the bonnet to take photos, averaged around 13 L/100 for the whole trip, and the list goes on :)

My only complaint (if you can call it that), is that its so easy to drive off road that SWMBO constantly needs reminding that its not an auto....
It usually goes along these lines:
1400rpm - I start to notice the engine and wake up
1200 - waiting for the downshift
1000 - still waiting
900 - "How about grabbing another gear darling"
"Oh yeah - it feels so easy I just keep forgetting"

I've got a few things to tidy up after the trip - ignition switch is stuffed (currently have the EDIC actuator disconnected while I wait on new switch), play in tie rod ends, drivers door wont' open from the inside, both headlight bulbs blown, idler pulley for onboard air siezed solid and made smoke, leaking rear diff cover etc etc - but nothing that held me up for more than a few minutes.
I'd be happy to jump in it again tomorrow with fresh food and fuel and head off for another month, but my boss at work isn't so keen :(

I'm also lucky enough to have a wife who loves it as much as I do....

Incidentally, be careful letting other landie owners drive your Isuzu...
I swapped vehicles with a Puma owner one afternoon. Drove about 20mins before we stopped for afternoon tea (where I was expecting to get the county back). Couldn't get him out of it and ended up back in the Puma until we camped that night. In the end I think it was only the threat that I was going to eat the roast that was cooking in the Puma's Travelbuddy oven that got him to hand it over :p

Edit: Just did final figures for the trip - 6900km and averaged 12.8L/100Km

Yes, booked! Coming over boxing day day (to the 18th), will mainly be hitting the east side, catch up with friends on bruny island, and that's all we have planned, basically going to wing it:). Happy to be shown some of the sites, its been 25 years for me, and I can't remember a thing.
So if someone can recommend somewhere near devonport for the first night would be great. Have camper in tow as well.
Oh just tried to run bringing (if its ready) the rangie by the missus, I got a frown, and she said make sure you pack plenty of cable ties (been known to make many rangie repairs with them), so I'm guessing that's a yes then dear:D

A good mate of mine lives in Sawdust road, Adventure Bay, Bruny Island, he's a ex-sawmiller ( serious ) .
So when you get there look up Tony Witzerman the local bloke with the six shooter and a choice of D1's ( JC knows of him as well ).

Hey Jus and others.
I don't know what it is about the 110 Isuzu.
It just sounds great , drives great , rides great etc etc.
And mines not even Turbo'd yet . ( Maybe one day )

We are down in Tassie just after Xmas in the 110 Isuzu also.
Haven't planned exactly what we're up to but am looking for advice from Taswegians about what to see.
Hope to include Freycinet , Cradle mountain etc

Geeze I've been to Tassie a couple of times. I just remember Mole Creek being a nice place to camp the night. I did those last time in a V8 Stage 1, but am hoping to do it in the Isuzu County soon (no Turbo in mine either).
