I have just completed the mount for our new GPS.
The mount is made from 1.2 mm S/Steel & is attached to the dash with VHB Tape. Very happy how it looks, just need to get it powder coated then final fit.
The Aldi 8" tablet works great with street navigation really well, Memory Maps also work very well on it.
I will be getting the Hema mapping for an Android before the next trip.
Sorry for the low quality images but i just walked out of the shed.
Cheers

The Aldi 8" has
Wifi
Bluetooth
Built in GPS
I'm running it with out a sim card purely as a GPS.
I think big W had one that was a little cheaper & identical for what i needed on sale last week.

The unit works great as a GPS.
I have contacted HEMA about an Android version & they will have it available around Christmas time.
So for now it is Memory Maps for the same sort of coin which i'm happy with.
Switching from Memory to City Navigate is very easy.
I'm very happy with the purchase just need to test it in the rough!

I've just come back from a 3 week trip from Brisbane to the tip of Cape York and back, and used the Aldi tablet all the way. Memory Map worked well and enabled me to set way points and log my track all the way up and back.
6,596 kms in total and the tablet worked very well. 3 mobiles and two tablets were a bit of a drain on the car while driving, and we soon found it best to limit the charging to one tablet and mobile at a time. Powered camp sites were great to fully charge everything. Solar comes next on the shopping list.
The Aldi tablet came with GPS, Wifi and phone but I haven't bothered to instal a sim as I was really after the GPS and Wifi functionality.
Initially, I used a vent mount to hold the tablet, but this soon proved unsatisfactory when we hit the corrugations of the Peninsular Development Road. The tablet is heavier than an iPad and the vent mount couldn't hold it steady enough. A very stable option was to simply sit the tablet in its case in the centre gear tray between the upper air vents in the D3 and lean it back against the dash. With the front cover of the case folded back into a triangle shape, this rests perfectly against the slope of the dash, and a strip of velcro holds the top of the case against the carpet dash mat. The whole arrangement is very stable and secure, and looks quite good as well.
Reflection during the middle of the day sometimes made the screen hard to see, but that was no real biggee. I'm awaiting a Hoodi from the States to see if that solves the reflection issue.
Long story short, loved the GPS tablet and the Hema maps running on Memory Map. The app sometimes crapped out and needed restarting, particularly when reopening it from the background. But again, no biggee - I guess it'll be sorted out in an update.
Cheers

If you install the app store called Aptoide, all apps are free, its a peer to peer app sharing site for Android, simply find the app you want using Google play, then seach the same app nane in Aptoide, works a treat, ive never paid for an app yet,
