So I posted a link to the camranger in the eye fi thread

but here is the video of how it works

CamRanger - iPhone / iPad wireless control of Canon and Nikon DSLR - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/embed/seGKsbRyQrE'rel=0)

I think it looks like an awesome bit of kit, and I'm highly considering one in the not so distant future but it begs the question does it take the skill out of photography????

It probably takes the skill out as much as any remote device would :D.

Ultimately you still have to make the decisions on shutter/F-stop/ISO/focus etc so I don't see it being that much different to you standing behind the camera selecting them (or letting the camera do it in full auto).

I really see the application being where you can't or shouldn't physically be behind or close to the camera.

X2

I'm thinking with my knees and lower back it'd work well in some situations.

chuck in a pan/tilt head on the tripod hooked through it and I would buy it in a flash!

but for the OHS stuff, would be great for sticking the camera in spots on job sites, blowing things up and craning things in and getting great shots from afar!
