Came back from a trip yesterday and the trailer jumped off the tow hitch, hit the spare wheel carrier on the rear door and the impact shattered my rear widow.

Any idea whether these things are also covered under "windscreen" in the standard insurance policy and also where can I find a new heated rear window?

It will depend of course on your policy wording - I know a lot of policies now list "window glass" instead of "windscreen"so just give the insurance comany a call.

As for finding another - the usual windscreen/glass places like O'Briens (if it is insurance). Otherwise if you're paying for it yourself there are certainly stacks of D1s being dismantled, but if you want new try BMI at Windsor.

I have removed the broken window and realised the door is slightly bent. The horizontal support on the inside of the rear door (the bottom section which runs in line with the rear door handle) has separated from the 2 vertical square tube supports in he middle of the door. Where the wiper motor pushes through the rear door the horizontal support cracked around the hole.

So, I'll need to weld these 3 points of weakness again. I'm having trouble knocking the horizontal support straight. The impact on the spare wheel carrier bent it slightly inward where it cracked around the washer motor hole.

What is the best way to knock this back 5mm to provide a straight area to accept the new window?
