Just wondering if there is anyone on the forum that can help me rust proof my TD5 90?
I'm happy to pay for the labour and time and any product required.
Otherwise can anyone recommend a local person in Sydney to do it?
I just rather use someone who understands defenders and where they tend to rust etc. and the best way to get into those spots like around the firewall and behind the dash etc
Cheers

Easy to do yourself, and good excuse to invest in an air compressor (could even use a large vehicle mounted compressor).
You will need:
1. Compressor
2. Degreasing gun
3. Large plastic drop sheet to park the car on
4. 2-3L of lanotec of deodorised fish oil
The best way to do the doors properly is to drill holes in the top corners of the inside of the frame.

Hey Bapo,
Been a bit busy with work and haven't had a chance. Was really wanting to find someone who knew land rovers well and just pay them.
I don't mind doing most things myself but this one I'm happy to pay someone. As long as they know what they're doing with a defender eg which parts are the worst for rust.

I found this post to be very helpful and informative.

Ben surely the best way to do the doors is by removing the interior trim ???

You cannot get much up into the tops of the door frames.
If you want to do a complete job I would suggest removing the trim AND drilling the holes.
You do not notice the holes are there unless you are standing on the sidesteps looking down at the top of the door frame.

It would be almost impossible for water to get in there - unless when washing the car with the doors open. The holes at the bottom are too small and should be enlarged. If anything the additional holes in the top will help any moisture evaporate.
