Travel route advice vic high country

I am heading down to Mt Beauty end of September for roughly a week via main roads mostly, but on the return trip which I would not mind coming back through Omeo across to Tom Groggin, spend a few nights at Island Bend camp etc & come home from there.

The problem I have is that while researching some people say the tracks are closed etc some say no probs, so I was wondering if there is a definitive answer & if there are alternate tracks ( don't have maps yet) I can take to get across from there??

If you have time while near Omeo visit Moscow Villa and Washington Winch.

The Parks Victoria site has a list off the closed tracks.

Thanks mate, we have a fair bit of return trip time from the 29th Sep till 4Th/5Th October to be back in Armidale so should be able to pencil in a fair bit.

I do want to end up at Wollemi National Park nsw for two nights at the end & then do a straight return from there, but right now the gap has not been filled with anything solid except for a couple nights at Island Bend

Or maybe skip Wollemi & do that another time for a solid week as it is close to Mudgee where the folks in law live as we would stop over there anytime we are near

Dunstans logging road will take you through Moscow hut via wheelers creek but . mt pinabar hut) benuba creek ,limestone ck rd, benambra. Oneo nunniong rd and through to bruthan orbost/ barnsdale ( goole corriong ,,, dunstans logging toad benuba flat limestone rd, benambra. Nuniong rd Moscow villa. To bruthen / barnsdale .... They are all open most years.... Take a chainsaw Hope this gives joy a. Overview....

Ahhh forgot mt beauty .... Omeo over hotham ( free if you are traveling through n ski seasons still on) and you can go up and behind bogong if the tracks are open ( eskdake spur and Dartmouth dam area across to the highway near tawonga)

Thinking we may stay overnight at Moscow Villa, & get on the main road passing next to Snowy River National Park up to Jindy & head to Island Bend for couple nights???

Looks like all other tracks getting to tom groggin are closed like Mt Hope Rd & Davies plains so either have to go up around Corryong which is the way we will be coming in Or the rough route above. Day trip wise we could head along some of those tracks that head to Tom Groggin, upto Hotham & want to see the old Chalet near Mt Bogong etc.

First real planning of trip I have had to do so its a little overwhelming deciding what to do

end of september tom groggin davies plains road to moscow villa wont be possible..closed{cool place btw big usualy clean...theres another 200 meters east along the road just over creek} theres the road from corriong to benuba crk{nice campsite with brumbies} then limestone creek road to benambra if the {native cat track area ,if open nuniong rd and nunnet rd.... there the ones to check thatll get you to moscow villa....wheelers creek hut or mt pinnibar{deasel hut or gibsons depending on who you ask} are 2 nice stopovers and very quite, you pass within 300 meters of wheelers ck hut and 4 kms odd from the other.. then this road leads down to benuba creek ,limestone creek rd to benambra and the turn towards moscow villa is on it......the run up the snowy is a plesant drive just check as the nsw section can be snow closed....
