thought it would be curious to see who else on this forum is a triumph owner and lover like myself?
for me its party to maintain a completely British vehicle collection and the other because I am yet to find a triumph that i would not want to own myself!
I love the sound of the three cylinder engine and the perfect balance of power and torque in my ST675.
why do you love your triumph?

I had a "cheating" Triumph Thruxton (in that it was made in 2005 or something, with disk brakes and an engine that didn't leak oil). Nice little bike, and I had a perfect run with it. No problems ever.
Traded it in on a BMW K series 1200, which was a bit more my size (I am 6' 3") and always felt the Triumph was physically a little small for someone as tall as me.
How old is an ST675?

I haven't owned one for a while.
The last one was a T150V (1973 Trident) before that there was a 3TA a Tiger 90 and a couple of 500's in an earlier life.
But staying with the British theme I currently own a Vincent Rapide, a Panther M100 with Watsonian Palma sidecar, a Matchless G80L, a Norton Navigator, Norton Electra & Norton Big 4.
All came with me when I moved from the UK, some are in bits and one close to getting back on the road.

I do admire the Street Triple, and is the pick as the replacement for my Honda VTR250 when the time comes. A bike for me, is really just a commuting device but it's certainly far cheaper, faster, more fun, and more reliable than Brisbane's public transport. The main thing that would stop me moving on from the VTR at this stage is the fuel consumption. I consistently get 3.0L/100km. How does the ST675 do?

according to the inbuilt computer i get between 6-6.5L/100km doing 90kms each day of the week, with a heavy tailpack mostly highway, if i reset the computer and ride around town without the tail pack 5.5L/100km I dont ride to soft, but i surely dont hammer the poor bike.

I've come close to looking seriously at a Speed Triple a few times. The shape before the current one is my favourite.
But I've also lusted after a Thruxton - again, before the current iteration (ie. the clip-on bars version). I feel the Thruxton would let me down a little in performance. You can also get a belt final drive conversion for the Thruxton, which makes it more attractive (I haven't owned a chain final drive bike for over 20 years, and I still don't miss it).
It just occurred to me that my ideal Triumph might be a Speed Triple motor in a Thruxton...

I like them. But would I buy one....

Old ones: Kind of, but everyone seems to have one. I'd get something a little different like a Norton or Ariel perhaps. I'd get a Vincent if I was rich.

New ones: Nice, yerp. But if I had the money I'd buy a Guzzi instead because.. well, just because.

So yeah I like 'em but not enough to pay for one.

P.S. Not all Trumpy's are triples !

P.P.S. That Rocket III is just silly.

I do like the Norton, but the money for a Norton is ridiculous!
I know not all Triumphs are triples, the bonny and the thruxton are twin's, and a fair few of the older ones.
But the triple was a big selling point for me on the ST
I don't know about the price comment though, they really are not much more than some of there jap counter parts. . . . and generally less than the competition when you start looking at the adventure bikes. . .

had Daytona ST, Bonniville America and Ducati ST3 all at the same time. Had to down size, only have the bonnie now, for comfort reasons (30 000km and not an oil leak to be seen;))

I'm still running a 1975 T160 Trident I bought brand new still in its crate in 1977[no one wanted them then ,along with its mate the Norton Commando]
Have added the retro Ducati Sport 1000 to the stable[only as an investment,at least that was the argument I used to convince the missus that I needed it]
I think this may be my first post, will see if I have got it right.

I've had two Triumph's, 1970 650 Trophy and a 1973 750 Tiger, both great bikes, would I buy a new one, maybe a Bonny replica, I'd much prefer a BMW though.

I had a 1994 Triumph Sprint that I bought new. Had it fir a while, did almost everything on it, from touring to track days to rallies. Was jack of all, master of none. I eventually had a sidecar fitted and rode it like that until the kids grew, needing a bigger sidecar, therefore needing a bigger bike, so it was sold to make way for my 1200 Bandit with double sidecar.
Would I have one again? Probably not. There are better bikes around now, but I have no need or desire for two wheels at the moment. I ride at work all the time, so the last thing I feel like doing is riding on weekends. Two wheels work, three wheels play.

Used to have a 955 Daytona which unfortunately met a bad end thanks to a taxi  and a '66 Bonnie which in hindsight I should never have sold, but what do you do? I can always buy another one :D

I'm not really a "Triumph guy" but they have certainly made some excellent motorcycles over the years.

sounds like we have a few Triumph fans :)
thought I would share a short story from my weekend.
I rode around to my brothers place (he lives in a uni complex) parked int he visitor section and went out for the night. when we returned (around 1am) there was a white box on my tank.
at first I was angry thinking someone thought my bike was a trash can, but when i had a look it was a package that read
"Merry (early) Xmas from another tripple fan (my 2012 Street triple was stolen last year the day this was deliverd to me)"
it made my day to know that there are decent people left in the world and that another triumph fan was near by.
turned out to be a Fender eliminator kit or tail tidy whichever you call them.
anyway here are some photos :) I wish they left there name or something so I could thank them!!
After a run of bad luck its nice when you have this happen.

Rode my 1970 500 Daytona for almost 30 years until the doc said one day, "once more down the road at the speeds you ride at, and it's a wheelchair for you Shorty"
(Only busted my back 3 times so far.)
Tweaked cams, hi comp pistons, 36mm Trident carby's, cut down Norton Commando valves, she went like a scalded cat.
Still miss riding it a lot though.
Would I buy a new Triumph? Sorry, but no way! I love my classic models way too much.

Here's my 750 Tiger, was in pretty bad knick when I got it, had the square BSA style tank(from the Trident) took about 12mths to restore it.

I am definitely a fan. I have been looking at a new Thunderbird for a few years now. I bought a Husqvarna enduro bike this year and hopefully the Thunderbird next year. I am too old and stiff for sports bikes these days. I want a comfortable cruiser. For the price I don't think anything compares with it. I dont want built in Thailand though.
I am usually wearing a Triumph T-shirt. On the odd day that I am not I will have LR shirt on.

This is the best photo of it completely finished, I decided I would put the original tank and front guard back on, I also got some new mufflers from London Trading, I kept the American bullet tank though, just for cruising around town, 12mths after this I traded it in on a Laverda Jota 1000, I spent Xmas that year in hospital with a broken back, 2yrs later I bought a new Laverda RGS 1000;)

Gave her to my youngest boy Vlad.
He's been on it with me since he was about 5 years old, and the only one who deserves to have her.

Exactly why Mick got rid of the Yamaha FZ1, his 'fun' bike, but getting too old for doing any distance on it, so he traded it on the 2012 Thunderbird 1600cc, put TOR short mufflers on, touring seats (front & rear), and a touring backrest for yours truly's comfort! Pillion comfort is so superior that much to Mick's annoyance, I often partake in an afternoon nap!!
We did 9,500kms Central Vic - Far North Qld last Winter towing a trailer (already put pic on another thread), and had an incident free, very enjoyable trip. Lady Penelope, as we call her, performed over & above expectation, including some 'naughty' speeds on isolated back roads, where she didn't even notice the trailer or pillion on behind. :wasntme:
Mick says she's reliable, fuel efficient, grunty & comfortable; the consumate cruiser, and best part is, after being a Harley owner years ago, when the cops realise it's a Triumph, they leave me alone! Other riders of Harleys, Victory's & Jap' Harley clones, after attempting to follow through twisties, are impressed, and have said that it's a really honest, all round motorcycle. [thumbsupbig]
