Might be interesting - design by Julian Quincey (HSV) and being brought into Australia by Walkinshaw Group.

Actually looks good, would be interesting to see how it compares and what it is powered with.

I ran into my old boss yesterday, they have ditched Toyota and now run Great Wall utes, making quite a saving and only minor issue's you'd normally expect from company vehicles. Pat

It's based on the Tata Xenon (which they are also planning to bring into Australia in standard form). Specs below.

With HSV / Walkinshaw getting involved with Tata - who knows - we might see a souped up "HSV style" Landrover sometime in the future. :o

Corefleet in Kal are moving in much the same direction. Very few Toyotas in their yard these days. Mainly Great Wall utes and Ssangyong wagons.

Just wonder which it is the towing capacity and towbar ball weight.
Looks good :)

For those of us unfamiliar with Parabolic leaf springs, they are amazing when compared to common-or-garden variety leaf-packs, giving the best of both worlds, coils & leaf.
My imported MAZDA 4WD turbo van could easily take 400kg over and behind the rear axle with little change to the usual smoooth ride.
I understand 'Parabolics' are a popular replacement for Series in the UK. They give the softness of ride that owners (of similar vintage...) need.:p
The engine torque looks good. A station-wagon body would certainly sell well....
Anyone notice the European-style screw-in recovery hooks ?

Looks like a Rodeo to me, power is good, torque is a bit low.

Noticed that, about the same as a wheelbarrow... or a Donkey.;)

At least in the case of a wheelbarrow, the driver wouldn't be included as part of the load. ;:D

There first offering over here in a ute was not well received. It had a Peugeot diesel in it of the same litres, so I`m only guessing it might be the same motor. First ones here where similar to a story I heard of ww2 Russian tanks. Go a few K`s then empty all the swarf and spare metal out of the gear box. So I hope they have improved a little bit.

I do not know how good is the later Peugeot diesel engines are but the old ones were superb.
I used to drive (1977-80) a 404 (4x2) diesel ute on the rice farms and they were as good as the 4x4 Jeeps and LR series and the engine faultless.
403 taxis were very good as well and only the body used to fall apart before the engine give any trouble.

I do think indians have a problem with the meaning of Load capacity
must be a loss in translation

If it has the same 2.2 ltr turbo diesel as the Land Rover Freelander 2 & I believe the Range Rover Evoque it should be quite good. It goes great in my wife's Peugeot 4007!:D

TATA are obviously still sure of their strengths...
they have recovery hooks on each corner... that I assume they can also use to secure them to the tow truck tray. :)
A delivery of TATAs in East Timor when I was there, 80 or so, were flown in by Antinov, then driven (on bitumen) across ET to DILI. During the journey about 75% lost one or noth mirrors (fell off!) One had a wheel, hub etc just toodle off and overtake itself (ending in scraping and grinding to a halt!)
Quality stuff
There was 95-98% humidity and the cars supplied had no demisters fitted at all!! They all had a 1/2" gap in the weld on the rear d/side wheelarch, you could tell who the driver was as he always had a brown stripe across the right shoulder above seat height!! (which matched the one that went throughout the car!)
Yep best bit of them was the keyring.... (it worked)
Not a fan. and it wont pass ADRs with the lights on roof.

If that's the case Digger, how did Jeep and Nissan respectively get these registered in Australia. Both were offered as an optional extra on new vehicles here. Not saying they're any good mind you, but I've seen plenty of both out there.

GOOD QUESTION..
But, ADRs state no lights to be fitted to the rear of a plane with the headlights

Aah! Digger, you should know that what ADR's state and that the manufacturers and distributors do is 2 different things, all in the guise of SALES!!!
It just makes you job harder to do,it is like do it yourself HID conversions and blue headlights with window tint on the lens.
