Watched this last week for lack of anything else on telly and was OK, interesting places they were traveling through.
Watching tonight as it is a trip through remote northern China.
Getting 'stuck' time after time in sand.
It has to be a setup, no sign of any bagging of the sidewalls visible.
Looks like they have pumped the tyres up rock hard and lined up the cameras in wait.

Their now in big sand dunes and drop the pressures as they should have earlier.
Couple of the cars look in pretty ordinary condition too, they are being used as the 'look out we might die' events.

I tried to watch it. But it got painful. If the experts where such experts. I hope I never end up on a trip with them.
There maintence must be poor also. As it was only 45 degrees and they had temp issues. My dirty old GQ with a mud filled radiator driving thru the Simpson desert in Nov03 never over heated and it was well and truly loaded. And I had the aircon on when ever it worked.
And the sand never looked that soft. So I am guessing the pressures where still up around 38psi.
I didnt watch long enough to see them put drop the tyre pressures.

It's called entertainment gents :D I remember at uni doing a subject called "The sociology of mass communication". Boring as batsh*t, but the one thing I got out of it was that most of the stuff we watch on TV is "escapism" from the drudgery of our daily lives; work at work, come home and work at home, blah, blah, blah.
I teach building at TAFE and UNI and guess which shows I think are the biggest load of bovine excrement (apart from big bother, er big brother) - yep, all those home improvement shows that get ya missus thinking you can do a 3 room addition in a weekend and everything is gonna be done properly, it'll only cost $10K and everyone is happy. BS! But for those who watch them, it's entertainment. :)
