Gentlemen,

This is my first post despite the fact that I've been reading aulro a while and more recently a member for a while...I am the owner of a 2010 Defender and love it (great bush basher and love the rugged feel of a robust go anywhere lorry.)

The reason for this new thread is:

1/ Has anyone seen the 2013 Defender? Its standard stereo system is simply quite awesome! An Alpine CDE-133BT with a powered subwoofer. The sound from this vehicle is serious ghetto blaster hi fidelity...Why didn't LandRover fit this ages ago - like when they decided to put electric windows in this truck?

2/ Probably been asked before but does anyone have a Wiring Diagram for this vehicle? I am going to remove the existing very ordinary Sound System Head and fit this Alpine (actually the next model up CDE-143BT.) It would be nice to have a decent sound system blasting over the top of the vehicle noise when cruising (has anyone seen the old flick Apocalypse Now?) Not only that but I don't think the clarity is there on the existing tinny stereo; I often find myself cranking it up to 20+ just to make out what the radio is saying. Anyway the wiring diagram would be a nice benefit when I go to install the old Hella 160 Spotties...

Thanks in advance...

Cheers
Chris

Hey Chris welcome to the forum

I might just pop your thread over to the defender section where all the defender nuts hang out that way you will have more chance of getting your answer rather than in the introductions section :)

Thanks labrado. Installed the Alpine (with Polk and Pioneer speakers) in there and the wiring diagram was most useful. All good. If I ever come across any spare cash I will install a powered sub-woofer to give it more bottom end. Overall it's better than the standard stereo; the sub-woofer would be great but for an additional $300+ I can't justify any more funds to be injected into this project....

I got that sound system with my defender, the subwoofer is great! The sound system in my landie is definitely the best I've ever had in any vehicle I've ever owned, it's pretty funny pulling up at the lights alongside some young blokes with their duff duff music going, turning up the landies stereo and watching the looks of amazement on their faces!lol
