Panel under steering column

Hi all.
The RH small metal plate that the locking screw locates into, securing the panel under the steering column on my '97 tdi has finally come away from the bodywork. I don't understand why LR just used some sort of plastic welding / glue to fix them to the bodywork.
Any ideas as to the best way of re attaching it? Do I try re glueing(if so what) or just use a screw?
All ideas gratefully accepted.

JC fixed my problem this morning, a simple hole drilled and bolt used to retain the bracket. This is the only apparent long term fix. Cheers again Justin :).
