At that price yes as long as it is driveable and low/high centre diff lock works
even if it does require work to the body
A decent one can go for 8-10k with ease
That dash looks like on from a moden defender tho so I'm wondering what else has been fiddled with

Looks a good buy, if it turns out it is a junker you can strip it for parts and still make money on it

I'd drive down from Brissy to pick it up for 1000

Even if it doesn't drive a grand for an Isuzu County is a good buy in my book.
Many people pay more for one just to get the engine, bellhousing and gearbox from to transplant into something else.
But do be aware that it'll be a project vehicle, if you don't have another couple of grand or more to bring it up to scratch and a heap of time to do it, then it won't be worthwhile to you. As Rob said above, if it's in good roadworthy nick it'd sell for 8 grand or more.
The dash is typical non-aircon County dash as far as I know.

Thanks for you input everyone.
The Landy drives but the clutch is slipping. That why the guy stopped using it. It has been sitting for about two years but the rego ran out in nov 2012.
It drives in low and high and the diff lock button goes in and out but I wouldnt know if it is functional.
The motor is clean, quiet (diesel quiet) and not puffy or smokey.
The only rust is in the rear cross member but nowhere else, i was thorough :)
I want this to be a project to keep for a log time..
Cheers again.

It's a good buy Rich, but as mentioned above, be prepared to spend more if it's not in good mechanical condition. The Isuzu engines are bullet proof unless something major has happened like running it dry. 270000 kms is considered low mileage for a 4BD1 engine if it's been serviced regularly.
How much you'll need to spend on it could be a little, or a lot, depending on how it's been looked after.
Lucky you haven't said where it is, I would find a grand pretty quick :D

I agree. It's a good buy. Even as a parter.

Those non ac county's are quite rare. That's why the dash looks like a defender, does not have that ac junk in it. Looks like you got a ripper bargain. Can I ask how you came across it?

Have a quick look in the front foot wells under any mats that are in there
Also check the fronts of the Chassis rails wear any bull bar it has bolts in
these are common points of rust and looking at the rear x member I'd expect there to be something in those places as well
But other than that well come to the club I wouldn't let mine go for anything like $1000

Bilbo.. Yarning with a guy at a servo about his.. He told me there was one in a yard in town that had been sitting for a while.. When I went round and met the owner, we went out the back connected the battery and started it strait up. First time in 12 months.
Rob.. I looked at these areas but Il check again..

Typical Isuzu............my 120 is in storage and I probably start it once a year if lucky......starts instantly every time on the old fuel that's been in there for years :D

Very similar to mine, from memory it was $3500 and had a cactus 5 speed gearbox with another 115,000 klm on the clock
As usual I overspent on it but ended up with a beaut vehicle. Of course that's when I sold it..:(
I have a rear County chassis member here if the one on it can't be patched, ( & some good clutches)
Cheers,
