I got home from the shops just 10 minutes ago. Went to put the car in park and took the brake off to find it reversed. Had a look at the dash and console both said reverse. Oh no I think, has the selector stuffed up. Into drive it went forward. Oh well that's not too bad until I have a spare weekend to fix it I think. Back into park and its still in reverse. Then realise a cord had dropped down into the selectors channel and it was stopping it going all the way into park. So nothing wrong yippee.
Yeh I know, sort of a pointless topic but I had a laugh inside after I over reacted because I'm paranoid after all this reading so thought I'd share.
Peter.

Well it happened again. The false warning. Long story well told ha ha
Went to get wonderful MacDonald's today for the convenient eat while helping a friend move. Two medium meals with coke please.
Put the drinks and their cardboard holder on the centre console lid. Just to rest there for the moment until I got the food.
Take off and forget about them. Oops. Two drinks topped upside down in the back, thankfully on the floor. One semi recovered but the other had its lid come off. Damn. Car is full of things because I'm in the middle of helping someone move.
So I drive on the 5 minutes to go where I'm meant to go thinking it's just soaked up in the carpet and probably my shoes in the back.
Go back to the car where I planned to drive home and try and Suck up as much as possible. But the car won't start. First thought, yep coke got into the computer and the car won't start. Like only for a split second because it's such a long shot until I realise the gear stick was blocked by something in the channel/groove so it wasn't fully in park.
Think this is my 3rd incident I've assumed far worse. Hmm, paranoid much ha ha.

Much better scenario in this instance to think the worst and get the best, rather than vice versa. Sticky floor mats being the worst in this situation.

Pete, lucky you didn't water your switch pack because that would have had you assuming and experiencing the worst (don't ask how I know)

Gee. Sounds like it could have been heaps worse than a short panic. The cup even tipped towards the passenger rear floor as well.

I've had the McD coke down the front onto the window controls. None worked, then one day they opened, but then wouldn't close again..... Searched half a day for the two screws that hold the panel in place. Bit of electronic cleaner and voila! All working as it should.
