Hi everyone, I have a 2007 Disco 3 and the radio has stopped working. I have confirmed that it is broken and not just a fuse issue etc. I want to avoid spending $900 for a new unit, could anyone recommend someone to repair the radio or does anyone have a secondhand unit they want to sell? The model number is VUX500530. Thanks.

There's one on Gumtree at the moment, going for $180.

This happened to another member.

No fuses blown etc just wouldn't work.

Have you done a full reset of the vehicle!?

Thanks Dave. I had a look and their is a 6 stack CD player version that I saw for $150. Mine is a single CD, is that the one you saw or is their another one I have missed? Cheers, Tim.

Tim, it's the one I've linked below. I'm sure it's a single CD, and your VIN number fits inside the range for that part. It's a VUX500430.

Has the unit had the latest downloads to it?
Has it been serviced by a dealer previously &/or have you just recently purchased the vehicle?
How have you confirmed the unit is faulty?

Carry out a hard reset & see what happens.
If this returns then see what software the unit is & do an update.

You could be spending money for no reason.

What exactly is wrong with the unit? No power? No sound? Radio buttons don't work?

I've had mine out and repaired it to get the CD ejecting properly and the AM/FM/CD/Aux buttons unstuck.

Hi,

As you are in Melbourne, I could have a look at it for you, if it is easily fixed and no parts that need to be purchased, I will do it free, however any parts would be at cost. However, I am currently travelling up to the Cape, will be back 2nd week in October if you can wait.

Regards

Gerald

Tim - the hard reset bypasses the fault which caused the problem... it doesn't fix it. The fix is to install the updates as mentioned by sniegy.
