Hi Guys
Have just fitted a pair of OEM xenon head lights, to my 2002 l322 HSE
A fault code code has come up saying 'check dip headlight'
The lights work perfect, it was a straight swap, with no wiring changes.
Is there any way I can clear the fault, without going to the dealer.
Cheers Paul

This fault cannot be "cleared" as it is not logged. The globe tests are done each time at start up and then at intervals while ignition is on - the message is no longer displayed once the circuit is completed (new globe inserted)
However, the balast doesn't do this so you need to turn off cold testing of the dipped beam. In the LCM there is a setting for bixeon lights. options yes/no. Set to yes. I'm pretty sure if you set this to yes, most systems will also disable the cold test. From experience Navcoder doesn't, so you just set both values.
This can be done with either
- Navcoder
- IIDTool
- Faultmate
- Dealer

Thanks Harleigh
I don't have a reset tool but can live with the message until the next service is due.

How much did it cost and was it worth it?

Hi
I bought them on ebay uk for 40 pounds each, and picked them up on a trip up there. I also picked up another for 12 pounds, as a spare. The ballast are really expensive.
They are very bright, and easy to fit. Although the fault message is annoying but I can live with it until next service.
Paul.

Hi Declan
They are the OEM that were second hand. The one that was 12 pounds had one of the tabs broken off, but I could still fit it if needed.

I bought a couple of sets off fleabay - 55 watt versions. They work great, and no one would know they weren't factory.:). $30 per set delivered. I went for 2 different colours with mine, 4500K for the low beans and 6000K for the high beam. I went this way because the low beams get used the most and I find the light from these puts less strain on my eyes.
Very happy with the outcome - nit and day when compared to the standard halogen lamps.
