I am looking at fitting LPG to the old girl...

what are good points for mounting the tank?

any recommendations on which gas system to go for.

and where i can get the parts.

I live in newcastle NSW.

Thanks for posting this as we're considering gas on our 2a shorty.

Just a few thoughts re. tank positioning.

A donut style tank could be put where the spare wheel goes behind the middle seat or maybe the tanks used in a Disco petrol tank replacement could be mounted vertically in the same place.......maybe.

Not unless the cylinder is designed to be mounted vertically. The pickup pipe, contents gauge and fill limiter will only work with the tank mounted as designed.

Not ever having done a series I have NFI if there is an option other than bung it in the load area. On the coil sprung 110s etc there's a small space under the drivers side, but you can only get 27 litres there. That'll run out in less than 150km per tank. I assume the shorty has the petrol tank there.

I have had friends that had gas fitted to both LWB and SWB series vehicles,and they had there tanks fitted between the chassis rails at the rear like you see on utes,with piping running along the R/H rail,both had the round Impco type converters,but Bee Utey would be able to clue you in,it sure would be an advantage with a series at 16mpg.

Note: ex army 2a's have the extra strengthening X member at the rear like a station wagon,so that could cause headaches.

A reminder that all LPG cylinders sold in Aust must have local approval. One supplier here is Blue LPG.

There is only one wholesaler bringing in vertical donut tanks and he only sells them as full injection kits at extreme cost for late model vehicles.
