Recently my auto has been feeling a little dodgy. A shudder here and there as well as a few rough changes. Land Rover wanted to change the auto transmission oil, not due until 240k but what the heck, mine has overheated a number of times when off road so it seemed like a reasonable idea.....until they talked about the special oil that is made from distilled unicorn tears at $132 a litre and it needs 7 litres. I ran away....
Well I took it to my auto tranny guy and he gave it a service for $198 in total and now it goes like new. He reckons the box is common enough, used in some Fords and Volvos. He also reckons that there would likely be no box left if unserviced for 240k.
So the long and short of it is, I am the auto box guinea pig for the rest of you guys. We'll see how mine goes and it could save you some cash.

Keep us informed, have always wondered when (and where) to have the tranny serviced. :BigThumb:

Had mine serviced at 80k. The filling procedure needs a computer I'm told...

After reading about your trans service I did a bit of poking around and discovered that the fl2 trans is quite common on quite a few vechicles including the dreaded toyotas . It is a aisin warner BG6 and castrol among others make a suitable oil to meet the required specs ( transmax multivechicle, about $50.00 for 5 lt at super expensive) . I am going to talk to the bloke that usually services my autos and find out costs ect as I have just over 80k on mine and a good service is alwaws cheap .
