Exhaust pipe.

Keep it clean folks. :D

I have been searching for Some missing coolant.... And that has in itself caused another problem but I'll get to that later....

Let the ol V8 disco idle after a cold start and a small puddle appeared under the tail pipe.. And your hand gets very wet when you hold it under there for a few seconds... So I am hoping its a head gasket and not a slipped liner.

And now to the other thing.... I was pulling plugs to look for wet sparkies and managed to rip the little crimped clip off the end of the lead.... After some good auro advice (Butey) I tried to recrimp it on..... Alas.... The repair hasn't worked and has eaten my coil...

So, the best outcome is a head gasket and new coil while that bit of the car is all in bits .....Worst is a 2nd hand Toyota

Cheers

Water coming out of the exhaust is normal in an engine that is cold and warming up - a small amount of water is actually one of the by products of combustion and when the engine and exhaust is hot you just do not notice it.

What about after ten minutes and the fact that it is disappearing from my coolant tank?

You will always get some water out fuel cold or hot you just dont notice it so much while your driving, as for the coolant loss it could be coincidental but i would be looking at the head gaskets first.

When my head gasket went it was burning the coolant internally and had very little out the tail pipe. It was losing coolant quite fast however

If you had coolant going into the combustion system you will have lots of white smoke coming out the exhaust.

I'm going to post a happy story because there's always so much misery around here.

I had no blown head gasket or slipped liner.

Coolant leak was a tiny weep in a pipe joint going onto the manifold and causing the burnt smell.

The miss came from a fault being created by the LPG system that needs servicing, which damaged the MAF. That's the second time it's done that and I should have checked but anyway.....

MR swapped out the old plug lead too.

Service plus a new MAF... $620 including $275 for OEM MAF.

Now it goes like a freakin train.

Also just put a fresh set of Mickey Thompson MTZs on it and has cured the wheel wobble at 80K and runs as smooth as silk.

So... it's been a grea truck up till now and I feel lucky. Google that ya buggers.....

Cheers

Ian.
