Just wondering, does anyone in Melbourne run the Truck Lite High Intensity 7' lights on their Puma here.
Next part, does anyone run the wiring upgrade for lights on said vehicle. But not with the new lights, just the upgrade itself.

I'm asking as I would really like to see first hand the differences of these two arrangements.
Its an upgrade I'd like to do, but not sure which to do, maybe both (?), not sure if its needed or not, but I'd like to see first hand for myself.
We do quite a few highway miles, and I'd like something better for my main lights first, then I'll look at spotties, but the Fyrlyt's are looking the goods there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks guys.

I cannot comment on upgraded loom or the truck lights (however I would love a set of them!)

but what I did do is throw some Phillips +100's globes in (I think that's what they are called?) few people on here use them. made a huge difference int he performance of the factory headlights. id say at least half the brightness again and a better colour (less yellow)

if you do not think you need spotties, try these globes out, I used them for a bit but found I am scared of the dark so fitted spotties and LED light bars :)

I have heard that it can be possible that if one puts upgraded/more powerful globes into a standard light fitting, there can be issues with the standard reflector with respect to the extra heat that may be generated?

Chops,

I have installed the Traxide wiring upgrade as part of the driving light installation: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/62729-fitting-traxide-lighting-upgrade-driving-light-kit-2007-a.html
It makes a difference.

However more dramatically has been the improvement gained from using Narva "plus 100" globes. These are probably similar to the Philips mentioned by Leroy above. They are ADR compliant (therefore legal in NSW) and because they are the same wattage (60/55) as the standard globes do not generate more heat thereby avoiding issues with the head lamps. But there is a down side: they don't have the same life span so if I was doing a lot of night driving on rough roads I would probably go back to the "plus 50" version which are better than standard. It's a $60 experiment that for me worked very well.

I have got the Traxide loom upgrade. I found only a very marginal improvement with toe loom upgrade only.

I subsequently installed 90/130w globes for approx $25, which were a considerable improvement.

I have also got some cheep HID spotties 75w. They are awesome!

Found them at Ashdown Ingram standard plug fits on no up grade to wiring
ADR ok
Price $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 1200.00 pair Best check might have dropped by now.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Leroy, I had a look at some of those when I was getting my filters the other day,, could be a good way to go for the time being. And in conjunction with what Mahn has said about the up grade this could be a better option, although the "truck lites" are only $400 a set, so we'll see,, (haha,, get it,, we'll see )
Tomo, How are your reflectors holding out with the 95/130's?
CO,, way too expensive for this little black duck unfortunately,, :( (And double posting too,,, how'd you manage that,, ;))

Chops, as you can see the split time was a bit slow, but I managed to get a finger on it.

Don't know much about the trucklites but the Speakers are good IMHO. Another option to maybe consider is the Noldens?

And they are just plug and play using the OEM plug.

G'day Brian,
Thanks for the picks, they certainly look good, but at $1300 a set,, its not happening, and I'm not sure if that AU$ or not  :(, There's probably others which may be a bit cheaper, but at this point,, I'm just not prepared to pay that much.

I'll be ordering a set of trucklites as soon as my tax check arrives, you don't need to upgrade the loom with LED's,I've had nothing but trouble with my upgraded loom and have better globes but you are polishing a poo,I'm just going to replace the lot with Trucklites. Pat

Chops, they are a bit pricey but my missus got me them as an early crimbo present. Before these I had the wipac crystals and Phillips extreme bulbs fitted which was a vast improvement over the standard set up and only cost about £50 for everything. Also do the trucklites come in a RHD version? I have just priced the Noldens and they are even dearer than the speakers :o

What about fitting a lightbar to supplement the oem lights?? I've thought about this as you can get them for about £100 for a 20". I was thinking of mounting the led bar here:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2013/09/528.jpg

There is room behind the grill to mount fixing hardware meaning I would just need to trim the grill. The better solution would be to mount it directly onto the bumper but I paid a small fortune for the Entreq heavy duty one I have fitted and there is no way I am prepared to drill it.
