Sometimes things are spooky.
We attended the LROCV 50th weekend past and it was a hoot.
53 Vehicles on display on the Sunday morning including a friends 2001 TD5 110 with a Mulgo roof camper conversion.
Bob and Helen have it really well set up.
We have a choice of camping means including ; Oz tent , swags , Goldstream camper and roof top tent on the County. Deb wanted to try out the roof topper and found it okay. We are taking it around Tassie this summer.
Long story short. We may be looking at a new( read good s/h ) Landy of some sort in Dec 2014. We thought about a new Puma maybe or a well set up older one and getting the Mulgo camper on it. I'd like it on the County because that is really well set up now but I have the ancillary aircond over the rear cargo area and that may muck it up.
We get to our other friends on Tues night ( they have a 1968 Dormobile ) and I spot a Defender brochure on their table. Turns out they had the same thought without us even talking to each other about it. I was just getting over that when my nephew rang me to ask about Defenders as he was thinking about getting one:cool:
Anyways there was a nice 2007 on Carpoint he asked me to look at online but I ran out of time:( It sold
I was wanting to ask if someone with a 2007 vintage or close , in Vic , if my nephew and his partner Zoe could come and say hi and get some goss on what to look out for and maybe a big ask so they could take it for a drive
They are in the Windsor ? area . On Dandenong road near to Carnegie kind of.
Send me a message if you can help please. Need to get another one into the fold:D
Thanks
Pete

Alternatively, take a new one for a burn. The motor is a bit smaller, but still goes the same or a tad better I hear.
The vehicle is the same.

A mate of mine is selling his 2009 dual cab puma tub. It has a brand new replacement engine & clutch. 70k on the clock. Mint condition. Might be worth a look.
He will be at the defender County day on the 22nd this Sunday.
Cheers

Hi,
I'm the nephew, Cam. Bit shattered I couldn't make it to the defender County day. Ironically I was exploring the limitations of a 2wd on howqua track and brocks road up near Bulla.
Looking forward to getting back up there in a Defender!
Cheers,
Cam

Not sure how many Puma's will be there, but I will be anyway. They're more than welcome to paw all over it.

Was great to see all the different set ups at the meet. Lots of ideas and people keen for a chat.
I've been keeping an eye on the various websites selling cars and noticed this one pop up..
2010 Land Rover Defender 110 4x4 Wagon BTB11X in Hunter, NSW | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2010-LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-110-4X4-WAGON-BTB11X-/331031836924)
(Found where it is actually being sold from)

Can anyone point me in the direction of a specialist mechanic up near Hunter in NSW to get it checked out? Or could point me in the direction of any threads on locations of specialist mechanics?
Wasn't particularly interested in the Hawks or Freo last Saturday so I took myself down to the Port Melbourne dealership before half time. They were light on for staff so the guy asked if I would mind going out in at MY13 defender by myself! Couldn't say no. 40min later, came back with a big smile on my face. Too far out of the price range, but good to get an indication of what the newest ones feel like.

Crikey ! Why ?
I reckon his nuts personally but apparently he has been a great deal to purchase a new car thru work, but it needs to be comfy for clients.
I reckon he'll miss the deefer as it's a nice truck.
He went for a FJ Cruiser.
So he can't justify a third car.

Thanks for the help and suggestions everyone. Didn't end up chasing the one near Newcastle. Was selling from an auction house, looked like a good project for someone but maybe not so suited to a newbie.
The 09 one posted in this thread looks like a real ripper, much better than an FJ cruiser :p
Bit far out of budget unfortunately.
Going to check out the td5 of 'goingbush' from lrocv tomorrow.

We did it!
My09 110 from QLD. Very stock, rock sliders only addition. Bit of a blank slate.
Taking a couple of days off work and going to drive it back to Vic mid November. Looking forward to getting a whole lot of waving practice on the trip down.
Not sure if Don's (aka goingbush) td5 is still for sale, but if it is I would highly recommend it. I was really impressed with the way Don has sorted it out. I don't think we suited it in the end, but a brilliant td5.
My current bed time reading is the workshop manual and aulro posts :) . Keeping me satisfied for the minute, but not making waiting to pick it up go any faster.
Have a feeling it will be close to 100,000 km when we get back to Vic. Any top tips for a new puma owner? Or 'must check' basics before the drive back?
Looking forward to being active on aulro and joining up with lrovc. See you all 'round!
